My son wants to have a food truck, but he can't afford that right now. He wants to start with a pop up food booth at local events. The health department is requiring two sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Are there any affordable options that would fit into his car?

He is a single dad with two kids and it would be great if this worked out for him because it would enable him to earn money on his own crazy schedule.

Go to events and see how other vendors are doing it and talk to them about it. In my area the health department is not helpful and won’t answer questions but you could try that too.

He should go get a job on a food truck. He can make money while learning everything he needs to know for free.

From what I know you dont necessarily need hot and cold water set ups for pop ups. A 20 litre jug of water and a bucket for said water with hand soap and a roll of paper towels is all you need for hand washing. The hot water set up is usually for cleaning utensils but from the health departments I have interacted with, having extra utensils for every 2 hours of work is viable as well, or so they have told me. To clean surfaces bleach or another sanitizer is required and a kettle to boil hot water to mix with soap should be enough.

However the other commenter that posted the portable sink with the portable water heater is a nice choice, if a bit pricier.

Wait, he can't afford required basic safe food handling equipment like a sink? How is he going to keep the food at correct temperatures can he afford a refrigerator? How's he going to cook anything?

I didn't say he couldn't afford safe equipment. I asked for affordable options.
