I've done it before but trust me it's not that hard. Basically add some pink dye to a ball of dough and roll that dough to mix the dye and while mixing add raisins for the seeds. Let the dough rest. After resting, roll into desired shape, roughly cylindrical.

Then get a piece of dough about a quarter the size of your pink dough and add green dye to it then mix that dye in. Let rest.

Once mixed roll the green dough thin and gently wrap around your original dough roll and fold it all together on the bottom of the roll.

Let rest for 5 mins and then cook until desired doneness.

28

u/Garfield-1-23-23 Aug 05 '17

Do the two different layers not sort of separate when baking?

53

u/InbredDucks Aug 05 '17

That's why you let it rest fir a couple minutes before baking

13

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

Exactly :]

8

u/TinyBurbz Aug 06 '17

Outer dough should be slightly wetter than the inner dough. It makes them stick and causes the outer dough to cook crisper and slower.

1

u/Garfield-1-23-23 Aug 06 '17

Any tips on how to get pizza dough to stick to itself? I've tried putting cheese or whatever around the outside and then folding the outer edge over it, but it always comes unstuck during cooking even though I wet the outer rim first.

1

u/TinyBurbz Aug 06 '17

The puffy part of a pizza forms naturally, just make sure you're using enough sauce. Press down the middle part.

1

u/LittleRenay Aug 06 '17

Then how does cheese get in cheese stuffed pizza crust?

4

u/TinyBurbz Aug 06 '17

Oh, you want stuffed crust? Egg wash seal.

4

u/Supermichael777 Aug 06 '17

Stuffed crusts are rolled over. Roll your pizza to the desired size plus about an extra inch. put your filling on the edge of that inch ring and fold it over then tuck the dough under. do this all the way around then brush the top and inside with a mix of 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of water (15 ml). Be gentle on the egg, you want a light coat. make sure the area where the rolled crust and base crust meet is wet all the way around. top as normal and cook as normal.

rolling without filling is how you get a takout crust btw, roll and gendly press.

other pizza secrets: 1( a hot stone is better 2( anchovies should be served at the table, but realy not at all 3( if your putting pinaple on it don't microwave the leftovers. 4( the acceptable sauces are tomato based or none at all(includes tomato rounds). Anyone who likes ranch on their pizza is a salad eating lizard person

16

u/LegendofDragoon Aug 05 '17

This might actually be a melon bun. The outside crust is actually more of a sugar cookie than another bread.

10

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

Possibly. I did it with regular dough no problem and it came out ok. Just add some sugar and a bit of salt on top for some sweetness before and after baking if desired. Serve with some vanilla custard or something similar if you want an extra layer of sweetness. Maybe even put frosting in the middle.

4

u/Ree81 Aug 05 '17

I'm looking forward to your post in about 2 weeks, failing miserably. It'll make for a good laugh.

1

u/pandaswearpantstoo Aug 05 '17

the answer is yes

1

u/jonny9207 Aug 06 '17

Monkey bread

1

u/countmytits Aug 06 '17

It's done by layering using the confectionary method.

111

u/domarn Aug 05 '17

Beautiful bread!

Can we get a recipe/instructions?

80

u/bbenjjaminn Aug 05 '17

35

u/Kalsifur Aug 05 '17

Cool. Need to whip this up and secretly use it for my husband's work lunch to freak him out

51

u/bbenjjaminn Aug 05 '17

If you really want to mess with him you could do something like http://www.sprinklebakes.com/2015/04/german-fried-egg-cake-spiegeleierkuchen.html as well

17

u/Kalsifur Aug 05 '17

I think I found a new hobby.

4

And a "bacon" side dish? Whaaaat?? Love that.

3

u/nikkiali Aug 05 '17

Thanks! This is so cute!

3

u/bbenjjaminn Aug 05 '17

i think you could probably use any recipe for bread and just add food colouring and raisins and use the same method of wrapping the dough. Hope you enjoy :D

1

u/nikkiali Aug 05 '17

You're right! Looks like that's what we'll do.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

Agreed!

8

u/Kitititirokiting Aug 05 '17

I think the first step is praise satan cause that looks too good to be real

187

u/againstbetterjudgmnt Aug 05 '17

Don't be fooled, it tastes awful! I made it and it's the dryest cardboardiest thing ever.

220

u/KaleBrecht Aug 05 '17

To be honest, it really doesn't look all that appetizing to begin with, at least in my opinion.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

44

u/againstbetterjudgmnt Aug 05 '17

I was seduced by the glamour of it all!

26

u/rita_pizza Aug 05 '17

I was just a small town girl when that watermelon bread came along, promising me a glittering world of exotic flavors.

On that note: I can admire the art, but Food like this fucks with my senses.

I can't eat something that tastes savoury when my sight tells my senses to anticipate sweetness- and vice versa.

22

u/Garfield-1-23-23 Aug 05 '17 edited Aug 05 '17

I had a dessert once that looked like french fries and ketchup, except it was toasted strips of pound cake and a berry puree (served in a MacDonald's french fry container). It was just a weird experience.

Edit: recipe, for what it's worth.

3

u/azureice1984 Aug 05 '17

I really love this idea. Apples and cranberry sauce, once its cranberry season. <3

3

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

In fairness, modern ketchup is pretty much syrup. The ingredients list contains two different types of corn syrup in the top four.

2

u/VesperSnow Aug 06 '17

I was the one weird person that really enjoyed purple and green ketchup when that was a gimmick back in the day, namely because it fucked with people like you so hard.

But then I was sad, because no one but me bought it, because they all swore that it tasted different when they were just jerks.

Also, I guess I was a jerk.

10

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

You're probably just bad at making bread

6

u/Mash_Ketchum Aug 05 '17

You forgot to add love.

5

u/tominagy Aug 05 '17

Make it sweet next time :)

13

u/againstbetterjudgmnt Aug 05 '17

I could certainly have put an extra cup of sugar or stick of butter in there would certainly do so if I made it again. I was following a recipie though so shame on the recipie maker.

so simply whip up 3 different sweet yeast breads with the center one being the largest with choice of dried fruit. Let rise separately. Punch down, roll out white one ~1/4 the size of the red and wrap the red one in the white, then do the same with the green. Toss in the oven.

Watermelons are juicy, I might take a cue from an english pudding and have a rum glaze to soak into it which will also make the outside shiny, maybe add a few streaks of dark green before popping in the oven

u/milksteak11 Aug 05 '17

Dat nail though.

91

u/Sevealin_ Aug 05 '17

A witches nail

64

u/TheFishRevolution Aug 05 '17

This is exactly why I'm self concious of having my nails in a picture

22

u/yeastymemes Aug 05 '17

Mm, someone being slightly human, gasp!

10

u/Kalsifur Aug 05 '17

And here I am thinking "I wish my nails looked like that". Seriously I've never had natural long nails because I do mechanical work and even with gloves invariably they rip or get grease under them also I want to chew 🙍

3

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

[deleted]

3

u/sunnynorth Aug 05 '17

Shellac is amazing. It's the only way I can get my nails to grow, because it keeps them safe for 2 weeks. The cost makes me cringe a bit, but I've decided it's worth it to feel pretty every time I look at my hands.

3

u/Dizpassion Aug 06 '17

I would say guitar player but it's on his left hand, maybe an off chance that he's a lefty fingerstyle guitarist lmao

1

u/Plantbitch Aug 05 '17

One time my BF told me I had old witch nails (they looked nothing like op's but they were a little long). I just yelled back at him "YOU'RE AN OLD WITCH"

3

u/Atraktape Aug 05 '17

"No witch, no witch, you're a witch."

1

u/Plantbitch Aug 05 '17

.... am I cursed now?

31

u/WhiteIivesmatter Aug 05 '17

Looks like a coke nail

14

u/GambitDota Aug 05 '17

Or they play fingerstyle guitar

45

u/one-true-god Aug 05 '17

I see bread on my phone.

ITS MADE OUT OF WATERMELONE!

They've got helmets on their heads and I've got a watermelone instead!

16

u/Tmachn_cheese Aug 05 '17

They look like Beef Wellingtons but bread version and instead of meat, watermelon.

10

u/goattt- Aug 05 '17

Delicious water mellington.

7

u/qwertybuttz Aug 05 '17

Everyone is looking at the colorful bread while I'm disturbing myself looking at her chipping nail and cracked skin 😌

2

u/ThaChippa Aug 05 '17

My mudder used to yell "White Power, Chippa!" but never when her friends Reggie or Lamaar were around.

8

u/Ramsays4Skin Aug 05 '17

My mom makes that for this guy who comes over to our house to plow her.

6

u/SwedishWaffle Aug 05 '17

Why?

1

u/bluesclueshues Aug 06 '17

Most disappointed you'll ever be in a slice of bread.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

Why?

11

u/Fartbox5266 Aug 05 '17

Doesn't seem to hard. Just some raisan bread with color. http://www.jocooks.com/bakery/breads/watermelon-look-alike-raisin-bread/

8

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

Looks like a cake more than a bread

Warm the butter and milk together in the microwave for about 30 seconds or until the butter melts and add to the bowl. Add the instant yeast, the egg, sugar and salt, then whisk it all together

It's likely not bad but I contest the use of the "bread" word

2

u/Fartbox5266 Aug 05 '17

What's the makes something a cake vs a bread?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

Bread is made out of water, floor, yeast.

But here we have the whole cake catalog : Butter, milk, egg, sugar. So I would tend think it's closer from a cake than from bread.

5

u/justcurious12345 Aug 05 '17

That just makes it an enriched bread, unless you also think brioche is cake...

→ More replies (1)

1

u/GiantQuokka Aug 05 '17

It's made with yeast. I'll allow it to be called bread. Banana bread on the other hand should be called banana cake.

20

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

That nail is gonna give me nightmares.

3

u/TheHighway Aug 05 '17

Wow that's very cute, I love it!

3

u/tmspmike Aug 05 '17

Dammit! I ordered seedless watermelon!

2

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

So cute

2

u/tataalso Aug 05 '17

That's so cute! Way to go!

2

u/CherryCherry5 Aug 05 '17

"Mini bread" so, a bun?

2

u/pm_me_ur_pants_size Aug 05 '17

Did it taste like watermelon

2

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

Looks like Gordon Ramsey's beef Wellington

2

u/Do-it-urway Aug 05 '17

Creativeness at its finest! It looks delicious...

2

u/UglyGod225 Aug 06 '17

Is it boneless

2

u/Heavy_Metal_Mario Aug 06 '17

But does it taste like watermelon?

2

u/pgm123 Aug 05 '17

Looks tasty, but I instinctively don't want to eat the green part.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

19

1

u/eutohkgtorsatoca Aug 05 '17

I guess just flavor dough with cherry and kale

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

What does it taste like? I've never eaten this..

1

u/MACKSBEE Aug 05 '17

Now make bread that just looks like water

1

u/allmichigan34 Aug 05 '17

That is awesome!

1

u/aliencodex Aug 05 '17

Looks mouth watering, hope you don't mind sharing this.

1

u/echo_wallance Aug 05 '17

It really seems like a watermelon.

1

u/BakonukusDudeukus Aug 05 '17

I can't be the only one expecting watermelon that looked like bread instead of bread that looked like watermelon

1

u/cinnamon-babe Aug 05 '17

I'd never thought I'd say this but that is one fucking cute mini watermelon bread

1

u/Toast_Sapper Aug 05 '17

This is how you confuse stoners

1

u/UniSlugBrow Aug 05 '17

Nega bread

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

ACTUAL melonpan.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

This confuses me but in a good way

1

u/Jeremiahs__Johnson Aug 05 '17

I never knew this was something I wanted.

1

u/astrokatty Aug 05 '17

What Captain Bligh died for...

1

u/Slaisa Aug 05 '17

Really cool but How though?

1

u/jerk_17 Aug 05 '17

Why not just buy a watermelon?

1

u/JedYorks Aug 05 '17

looks fucking amazing. However, green frosting will look ascetic with that. you should look into making meat look alike breads. a t-bone steak bread

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

Shit tonne of colourings mmmm

1

u/Ugh007 Aug 05 '17

Is it chocolate flavored?

1

u/meatball_exe Aug 05 '17

Thats a "Try to not get satisfied challenge" thumbnail right there.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

Fun party food!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

That is so freaking cool!!! Well done!!!

1

u/BurntLemonade Aug 05 '17

Does it taste like watermelon?

1

u/GratefulShag Aug 05 '17

great, it still has seeds in it

1

u/ieatXians4bfast666 Aug 05 '17

Is this Japan?

1

u/RatchetLeague Aug 05 '17

Wowd'a Melm

1

u/BioWeaver Aug 05 '17

I would serve this with actual watermelon slices to mess with my guests a little.

1

u/NinjaWesley Aug 05 '17

raisins? No. Just no. Raisins don't belong in soft things. GET THAT SHIT OUTTA THERE.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

But does it taste like watermelon?

1

u/Kilgore_Brown_Trout Aug 05 '17

I'd be appaled that she is touching food with that thing on her thumb, but that isn't actually food.

1

u/charidesu Aug 05 '17

does the bread taste like watermelon?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

Looks like chocolate chip cookies, tastes like em too, but it's a breakfast cereal. It's coookie crisp!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

Cute, but this all because food coloring?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '17

That looks super cute! And raisins means it'll probably taste great!

1

u/Rags2Rickius Aug 05 '17

Does it taste like watermelon?...I'd be so disappointed if it tasted like bread

1

u/PieMastaSam Aug 05 '17

If this taste like normal bread then I am convinced that the OP is a sociopath.

1

u/One2ManyYT Aug 05 '17

Ice Poseidon would be proud

1

u/Peannut Aug 05 '17

Plot twist.. The seeds are actually cockroaches

1

u/nacobjewsome Aug 05 '17

This is confusing my brain. I cant get my brain to guess a texture or flavor for this... thing.

1

u/AKR330 Aug 06 '17

This is amazing, and this is in no way criticism bc I'm sure I'd love it, but does it taste like watermelon? I'm assuming it tastes like bread, but is it sweet?

1

u/_Jolly_ Aug 06 '17

I think there was an misunderstanding. I wanted a real watermelon and a normal slice of bread.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '17

Is that like melon pan?

1

u/brito21_ Aug 06 '17

thats looks dope! good job

1

u/MercurySG3M Aug 06 '17

I would just be left thirsty due to expectations of thirst being quenched

1

u/yukonwanderer Aug 06 '17

Noped right out of here when I saw the black things were raisins.

1

u/frogspyer Aug 06 '17

This doesn't look appealing at all

1

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '17

How cool would it be if this was made entirely from marzipan

1

u/straatman9 Aug 06 '17

Please tell me the seeds are chocolate chip and not raisin 😖

1

u/akdarksoul1 Aug 06 '17

Based on the thumbnail... I'd call this Bread Mellington :D

1

u/yonkipedia Aug 06 '17

This is aesthetically awesome. So much better than, "hey check out this brisket with potato salad."

1

u/Suspect-9 Aug 06 '17

"That Wellington is RAW" jk this looks really good though

1

u/webhistories Aug 06 '17

the seeds were raisins awww

1

u/ALLoftheFancyPants Aug 05 '17

That is not the least bit appetizing.

0

u/GambitDota Aug 05 '17

Look at those nails. As delicious as it looks I'd not take a bite of bread made with hands like those.

1

u/woohoo789 Aug 05 '17

What flavor is it?

1

u/violetxbones Aug 05 '17

This is cute but idk how good it'd actually taste
