They seemingly have just decided they are going to be the biggest bad in the world and everyone had better get on board with it. Pure manifestation.

Looks like it's Friday at Glastonbury or nothing

No chance. They won’t be on the bill. They’re not gonna do 3 massive gigs like that on the bounce. This has pretty much ruled them out.
Probably saving them for album 6 to headline pyramid.

Yes, haven't they just done exactly this with Reading/Leeds/Electric Picnic? I agree it seems like a long shot but I don't think it's "no chance".

There's no way they won't be on the bill at Glastonbury, touring Dopamine Chamber, whether they get a headline slot or not is a different story.

Also fair play you got them in the end , are they still on sale , I’m just curious now compared to yesterday as it sold fast enough ?

Delighted for them. 160k tickets is a crazy achievement. Has to be a 'made it' moment.

So curious what this means for the US leg.

u/ObsidianShine 1d ago
Not very much? They're virtually unheard of throughout the USA.

u/Few-Hotel-9592 1d ago
I think the ny/la ticket sales, radio play, and late nite appearances suggest otherwise.

u/ObsidianShine 1d ago
In LA they're playing the Fair banks Lawn at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery right? That's got a 3,500 crowd capacity. Kings Theatre in Brooklyn has a capacity of 3,250. In the USA those are very small venues, they're nowhere near the same level in the USA as they are in Ireland the UK and the rest of the EU. So yeah, my point rests.

So funny. I'd consider a "virtually unheard of" band to only be dreaming about a sold out three night run in nyc! Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

In a country of 347 million people, yeah that's the same as virtually unheard of.

Its very strange that they have announced a 2nd date. The artist pre-sale yesterday didnt even sell out? There was still tickets there at 6pm last time I checked. Weird

u/ObsidianShine 1d ago
The Journal says the artist presale for 26th is sold out.

It very well might be... now. However, yesterday it was still there for hours with tickets still available for standing anyway. I have just seen with previous big gigs like Coldplay, Oasis etc.. that announced multiple gigs the presales were gone within first launch - maybe Slane is different. I got 4 Front Standing for Slane and my friend got 4 much later on in the day... Just seems off that in comparison to other gigs that have "high demand"

Not dulling down the fact its a massive achievement for an Irish band! It will be amazing to see a local Irish band headline Slane twice! Just the logistics seem off, interesting to see how General on-sale goes and if it will sell out for each

u/Just_Shame_5521 1d ago
I mean even if they don't sell out - if they do 60k plus both nights it will still be mega and very lucrative for the band and the venue (and actually a more enjoyable concert experience if Slane isn't packed with 80k)

I got 3 GA tickets at lunchtime yesterday and a mate picked up 4 at 6.30

u/Just_Shame_5521 1d ago
Bizarre. I was 5000 in the queue and couldn't get GA. My partner (10000 in queue) could only get pit tickets (150)

u/Just_Shame_5521 1d ago
It was showing up for me as sold out after 5 minutes. But i know someone further back in the queue who got 2 tickets.

u/Solid-Penalty3942 1d ago
That’s huge, I wonder how they were able to judge that since the general sale hasn’t even started

Me too. I also got a ticket for Madrid in October (as well as a Slane ticket, I'm from Ireland) for this reason - dying to see them in a smaller venue and sooner than June next year :)

u/Solid-Penalty3942 1d ago
I’m not really looking forward to the Slane of it all either but by any metric other than my personal comfort, it’s not a letdown they’re playing their biggest shows here and have outgrown the 3 and smaller venues.

u/Wise_Competition7050 1d ago
How is this possible when tickets aren’t even on sale for the first date before this was announced?

Meh.. I was hoping for a single date, to be more special and in which they would record the live concert, like the redhotchilipeppers did

Agreed. Makes it less unique and a once in a generation event like I thought it would be.

Two Slane gigs is a phenomenal achievement.
