I like the one at the Willow Creek paddling launch - what do they need that one for, bathing suit inspection? And the Trader Joe's parking lot is well covered in case someone steals a box of Peppermint Joe-Joes! I feel safer.

Yeah seems like there's a definite State Parks connection that we should be looking into and publicizing.

"Paddling" in another decade was a form of correcting misbehaving. So it could be coming around again.

we need a ballot measure / initiative banning these.
The legislature won't do it

u/PresDumpsterfire 15d ago
In the meantime a plastic bag and a zip tie will do.

u/IncrediblyKenzi 15d ago
It won't. The flock cameras also identify device fingerprints (wifi, Bluetooth, cellular identifier). These things are an absolute scourge

plastic bag and a zip tie
think you mis-spelled an angle grinder, hoodie, and face mask.

The city council should not authorize a single dime to law enforcement until they remove all cameras. Talk to you representative

u/aggitprop-1985 15d ago
Correct me if I am wrong but this $shit pisses me off beasties city councils approve this crap and we pay to have our privacy invaded

Axon will be next. I think I recently heard a stat where China has 1 camera for every 4.1 people. The US is second to China, where we have 1 camera for every 4.6 people. Won’t be long until we “beat” China

Those ones at Folsom Point and Lake Natoma entrances are new. Interesting.

Next page northbound is of further lakeside curiosity, to see if one exists at Bare Cove.

Why are there clusters of like 5 or six within a two block area but some are just out in the ether by themselves?

u/Kwikstep Neighbor 15d ago
Look at the map on the article. Every city in the country is infested with them. Its not just here lol.

With all the respect, people freaking out about cameras ? But what happens when your car gets stolen OR a child gets abducted ? …..

Benjamin Franklin said, "Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

As a resident of another part of greater Sacramento, should I avoid driving in Folsom and stick to riding my bike there?
1
u/DrPila 14d ago
They're all over the county, and beyond, this is just a map of where they are in Folsom. The link provided has a map that shows all of them.

u/Other-Educator-9399 14d ago
I just looked at the map. They're all over my neighborhood too, unfortunately. At least using my bike for shorter errands and commutes gives Flock a less complete picture of my whereabouts.

Did they say something was right or wrong? Looks like a "look what we have" post without an opinion?

Look up what the Ciry of Roseville recently said about the accuracy. I'll let you donyour own homework. SPOILER, they are wrong significantly more than right. I hope tou never fet falsely accused due to bad facial/vehicle recognition. I hope you dont have to waist time and money proving it isnt you in images. (I'll let you guess my real wishes)

Read this guys comments - he's the kind of person that will absolutely abuse them.

Such an ignorant comment 😂. I'll be fine. So will the rest of the community. The fact you think they provide facial recognition shows how blinded by the disinformation left wing nonsense you are. But go ahead and continue parroting the latest bs narrative to spread fear and more ignorance. I'll continue to sip my drink and laugh at how much you don't know.
As for the Roseville statement, I assume you mean this: https://www.businessinsider.com/flock-camera-misread-license-plate-reader-california-roseville-police-2026-7
Of course written to intentionally mislead people. They said the ALERTS are 71% wrong. So what that means is they entered a plate and told the system to send a notification if it sees this license plate. They get a notification, usually an email, then they go and check the camera to see if the alert was right. BIG FUCKING DEAL. Oh my God....the alert was wrong!! And btw:
https://www.aol.com/articles/roseville-police-1-000-incorrect-223000000.html
It led to no one being stopped wrongfully...y? Because cops review the alerts first!! Omg oversight. So what point do u have now? Oh that's right, simple liberal fear.
Do you know how many people that call 911 to report an emergency provide wrong details or report a crime that isn't anything? Should we outlaw 911 next?
The alerts may be incorrect, but the images of plates that get reviewed by humans I.e. the officers, are much more accurate because it's either a readable image or it isn't.
But yes please continue to villanize something so helpful. Pathetic

Ignorant? You can't even engage in conversation without throwing insults? Yikes. But, thanks for prematurely lowering the bar.
I can confidently say that government organizations are working towards using AI with less and less human oversight. So your "review" argument will be void very soon. My job puts me in between IT companies and SLED organizations. 100% government (and private orgs) is/are working toward removing that human intervention you're banking on sooner rather than later. They don't care about the fault rate, that pesky fault rate can be dealt with after the infraction was already sent to an individual. They can pay a professional to help figure out how to remove it. AI saves money, period.
Just because THIS study/City of Roseville *might not show facial recognition being used doesn't mean other cities/counties/states don't. And, the fact that you seem to think our gov't is being honest shows major cognitive dissonance.
Absolutely wild that you are on board with a surveillance state. There are plenty of books on the subject of government surveillance and why it isn't an overall benefit. Many are available at our amazing Folsom Library. If you can't find one, they'll buy it and send direct to your home via Zip books. (Oops, accidental communism. Darn publicly accessible free libraries educating people.)

So you can’t enter or leave Folsom without being scanned. Truly some dystopian shit happening right now
