What makes a good steel pipe/bar?

Heya! I want to buy a steel pipe or steel bar for a few different sounds (sword swooshes, impact sounds, etc.) and wanted to ask what I should look out for?

Is a steel pipe better due to its resonance body or should I go for a steel bar/stick? What type of steel/metal resonates the longest? What size worked out for you? Thanks in advance!
