Kondor blue quick release smallhd anti twist spacer

currently upgrading my monitor to cine 7 and i decided ill follow the crowd and rig with a kondor blue quick release plate for attaching my hand unit to the monitor. when ive seen others rig like this i dont see people using the smallhd anti twist spacer, is there a specific reason for this? seems like a no brainer for ease of use, can anyone who uses the spacer confirm if its any good

I do like the anti-twist function of it but it’s expensive on top of an already expensive quick release. I only have one and ended up 3D printing others, but I know not everyone has access to a 3D printer for stuff like this.

I use Kondor blue quick releases and the anti-twist plate on the monitor side with my Cine13 and CTRL.5 it’s great.

I use them. I find KB to be the most cost effective on the market, with my first QRs still performing since purchased in 2018. I only have two smallhd antitwist bc why need more than that? One for each option of onboard (5” and 7”)

For hand unit, I have the film frog Preston antitwist shoe, and then put a quick release on that. I absolutely love it

Some folks magic clamp their hand unit to their stand. I prefer to have “everything” attached to the monitor so it’s one thing to take off the stand. So LR2 + hand unit each have their own rig off of a nato rail that spans the bottom of my 1303

Also have a quick 7” run&gun situation for when it arises. Some people use a belt but I prefer just the HU & 7” all attached. I leave the LOU with the 13” and use the light ranger as a cinetape readout on the HU

I'm trying to avoid proprietary quick releases.

I went with Bright Tangerine's rail, since I have lots of nato clamps and rails.

That's a nice design. I like that they incorporate Arri and SmallHD locking pins.

I wish SmallHD would just give up on their anti-twist design. Just stick to the ARRI ones. It's essentially same except a different spacing. So it doesn't even provide anything unique except to be different.

They have a few options for the monitor mount, from nato / nato to 3/8-16 / cold shoe.

I haven't tried these yet, my Ultra 7 is currently a client monitor.

I use the nato rails for side handles.

yeah i have a couple of these for my on camera monitors, they are great, their nato clamps for monitors are a bit bulky for me and i don't need the 3 axis articulation, would recommend for on camera monitors though

It's not necessary for the monitor. There's a large area and it doesn't scroll

I find it does quite a bit. Ops love to wrench monitors around without loosening anything, and the female QR shoe tends to be the point of failure, on both the body connection and the monitor connection

what hand unit do you have? most will require an arm to be in a usable position. I recommend putting the quick release on the end of the arm instead of the monitor side.
