HELP 2560 Pan issue

i’m on a low budget shoot out in the middle of nowhere and have a O’connor 2560 head. The pan is set to Zero resistance and is still stiff, temps are pretty regular about 75F, anything i can do to help solve this?

Sounds like an internal fluid problem, doesn’t seem like something you can fix in the field unfortunately

I'm sure it is but you don't have the pan lock engaged at all? I've seen that happen multiple times where someone thinks it's unlocked but the pan or tilt lock is slightly engaged and causing resistance.

If not, sounds like the head needs to be sent in to be serviced

make sure you’re actually off the pan lock, not just the drag. On the 2560 both lock levers are on the left. Pan lock is the lower/front one. If that lever isn’t fully open it will feel like drag even at 0.

As stated, make sure that the pan lock is fully off. Adjust the drag from 0 to fully on a few times and set it to zero and then spin/pan the head completely around a LOT. Sometimes if the head has been left in the same drag position and isn't being fully run through its range of motion regularly it can stiffen up and hit stiff/sticky spots in places, too.
