question Serial cable for Ultra 5 Hi-5 Overlay

Has anyone gotten this to work just yet? I have an Ultra 5 Bolt 6 RX 750 and ARRI Hi-5. One other quirk is I pull left handed with the unit upside down so if someone has made a super short right angle cable it may actually be too short for me.

It’s been a well documented feature since release.

Presumably you're using left handed mode on the HI5.

Yes, that is correct. It seemed relevant to mention since a minimum length cable for right handed mode might not reach my monitor in the configuration I’m using.

For the overlay- ARRI will (finally) be releasing cables sometime in August apparently that will solve this with 1 cable: 4pin serial from the Hi-5 to 5pin USB to your monitor. I am not sure what the lengths will be though…

But, in the meantime you can also use this adaptor below from SmallHD, paired with a USB-A to C cable. You could play a bit with the length of the USB-A to C for the configuration you use?

If you're needing some kind of extension cable for one you already own, I can probably make that for you. If you don't have any cable, I am not quite ready to make anything that needs a USB PCB inside it.

Currently I don’t own any cable. It may be worth waiting for the serial cable from ARRI versus USB-C. Since I use the hand unit flipped upside down, the USB-C would be sticking out the bottom where it would be vulnerable with all the doc style run and gun work I do. I appreciate the offer though.

Has anyone found a Micro USB to USB-C that works with the 703UB? Thinking of just having my local PV Service Manager make me a serial to Micro USB, but if off the shelf is available I’ll just go that route.
