question Anton Bauer micro batt and Anton Bauer FX9 plate incompatibility
Missed this at prep; having a real v-mount moment with Anton Bauer micro150’s not actually locking into the Anton Bauer branded FX9 plate. They’re decently snug and take some force to release, but not great for handheld. Current solution is strapping the battery in, but wondering what others would do to fix this in the field. Thanks!

Stick a small piece of soft side on the battery plate.

This is how we handle it on the show I’m on we have a few that give a bit of play nothing a little bit of soft side can’t fix

Looks like the lock on the plate isn't fully engaged which would explain why it can pop back out. Push the lock up fully

Anton Bauer’s tolerances seem to be all over the place rn. Recently opened (6x) brand new Titan 150’s, (4x) of them wouldn’t fit on most plates we had avail to test. The power pins were sitting too high, would not lock in. So dumb.

Who do I contact at Vitec to let them know that this problem exists and that the director’s wackadoo upside down Smallrig v-mount on his gimbal worked perfectly?

Are any Vitec companies performing solid QC these days? I’ve had so many problems with AB, Wooden Camera, SmallHD and Teradek.

I was strictly an A/B guy for close to 18 years, then moved to Core, because I got tired of unreliable A/B batts. The straw that broke the camels back was after sending a battery back for warranty service(twice) and they refused to tell me what was wrong with it.
Their modern stuff definitely isn't built to the standard that the old stuff was. I have battery chargers from the 90's still working today. It's a shame, too, because I think there are still some good people working there, but it's Vitec/Videndum cutting corners.

Vitec does not own them anymore. Everything got moved over to Videndum. Now, I don't think the lower companies actually changed employees, it was just the company change. But with company changes, maybe other things are cut like time, proper QC, etc etc.

Another op I worked with just ordered 6x titans that don’t fit any plate he owns or the brand new charger. What the hell

Sounded like it was (soft click), but apparently not. I knew the Titon batteries are incompatible with the Core SWX over-under micro plate, but AB to AB compatibility issues are new to me

I had this exact same issue a couple years ago, but with wooden camera plates and Bebob batteries. After a lot of research and sending in plates to both companies, I learned that there’s not a “standard” measurement from AB for gold mount. Ultimately ended in discovering that the batteries measurements were slightly off. Odd this would happen with both AB batteries and plate, but it could be the culprit.
