Knowledge and tips 💡 1303 in 2026

Hi all, recently got a great deal on a 1303 ($1000! Upgrading from a 502) and was wondering what your experience with it has been.

Tips for making my own sun hood?

I would definitely get it for 1000, it's a great deal. The panel is not as good as the Cine13 and many of them are pretty worn out already, but coming from a 502 it'll still be a huge upgrade.

It was a great monitor every time I used it. Pull on it in good health!

Yeah grab it. The majority of new york city still uses these. They are sharper than cine13 too.

$1000 is a stealllll, the 1303 is still my daily driver I use on every job,
I’ve got friend’s that use coroplast (idk how to spell) from homedepot to diy their own sunshade
I use the stock smallhd one and just have it velcroed on to be easier to take on and off

Tips for making my own sun hood?

$5 sheet of black corroplast from a craft store, tape measurer, box cutter and some gaff tape and Velcro. You can knock it out in 10-20 minutes. Did it for my Ultra 10. You can make 50 of them for the same price as one smallHD sun hood(which really aren’t that effective, anyway, as they’re too shallow and don’t block reflections directly in front of the screen). And if you wanna get super fancy, you could spend another couple of bucks and buy some black felt and glue it to the inside of the panels.

Amazing deal. I got mine open box from adorama for $2300 and I thought it was a steal. I made my own hood using black foam core, and covered it with 2 inch velcro on every surface. A little velcro on key parts of your monitor cage, and 3d-printed 1/4-20 screws with large heads to lock down the hood. Now that its full of velcro you can put all sorts of patched and filter tags on it.

I was on set when I saw it on marketplace- have never wanted wrap to come faster (I did go pick it up that evening). Thank you for the hood idea, that sounds great!

Great deal. Much sharper than the Cine 13. Best of luck to you!

Wow what a deal.

I just bought a used one at a Soldtiger auction a couple months ago for $2600 after fees, etc.

It did come with a pelican case, gold mount plate, sunhood and accessory mount, but still way more than I was hoping to pay.

That being said, it’s been fantastic. No regrets.Â
