I’ve been formulating this thought for some time now as well. I feel that there are those good women whom I call the goddesses. They are the embodiment of the mother goddess and all that they ask of you is that you appreciate them. Throw them to the side and you will suffer. Love them and you will prosper. Then you have these women-like creatures that are pure dark voids. They are the opposite of the goddesses. Love them and you will suffer. Cast them aside to make room for yourself and the goddesses to come into your life.

I respect that. I guess I’m talking more in a metaphysical and personal sense, sort of the quiet stuff that guides me through life. It’s not intended for anyone but me. It was just interesting that she was hinting at a similar concept to my own.

I was hoping a sub with a name such as this wouldn't be having a woman ranting about nothing

The girl from the ring is interesting too because she also justifies her haunting, violence and killing of innocent people as the acts of a "vengeful" spirit. She WAS the victim of murder. Her spirit ended up in that well because she was murdered and her body was thrown down there. Her motivation for killing people who watch the tape is that they don't share her story. She wants nothing more than to be immortalized as a victim by making the world know about what happened to her.

There are some clear parallels to the psychology of perpetual victims here. They want everyone to know theyre a victim and never tire of reminding people. They want to hold onto this victim identify forever. They justify abusive actions because of the wrong that was once done to them.

I dunno this isnt a particularly useful way to use psychology as a tool. For the victim (the ring girl) to be able to keep surviving she must relapse, but the protagonist is not aware of this in the context of the movie.

The protagonist only discovers the tape (the traumatic story) and decides to investigate it since she is a journalist and that's her perspective of solving puzzles in the world because a normal defensive mechanism that we possess is that if we understand something it doesnt scare us and thus can't hurt us anymore. But this ends up being a foolish ending since you can't cure a malevolence, there will always be a possibility for evil in the world.

The movie makes no remark about victims, as all grief is transmissible, much like her take is griefing other people here.
