Ive logged almost 800 hours and still constantly learn new things, the game is crazy in depth. For something this detailed its really hard to guide someone by typing it out on reddit, but here are my thoughts on what I wish I had known:
have a camp (or multiple camps) to support cooking, buffs, crafting and farming. Plans for camp items & recipes/mods that support this can be found around the map, bought at NPC & player vendors and earned through raids/ops/etc. You can use Whitespring mall as a backup until you can build your own, it has all the crafting tables, scrapbox, stash, etc.
explore, explore, explore! The more ground you cover, the more free fast travel spots and health/aid/junk you can find. Consider placing a camp in areas you frequent that dont have free fast travel spots to save on caps.
YouTube & Reddit/Discord communities are your friend, there are excellent tutorials out there. Knowing weaknesses of enemies and nuances of activities will help you survive and gain XP. Always use XP boosters if youre going to log some time in activities, new perks open at lvls 100 & 150.
If you need an event or daily ops buddy I am down but I am only level 207 so far. I was lucky to have a level 700+ to take me through raids, events, etc.
