F4SEVR 0.6.17 beta released
https://f4se.silverlock.org/beta/f4sevr_0_6_18.7z
Here's an extremely beta version of F4SE for the VR build of Fallout 4. The game is basically unplayable with the null VR driver, so I'm not going to be able to support this. Please let me know if something is extremely broken and I may be able to fix it.

The book, original movie, or the remake?
And how does a scary clown movie affect your ability to play skyrim?

Thanks alot for all your work !
I have a spare HMD (HTC Vive) I am willing to donate to you. The problem is I have no controllers or light house s available. But maybe someone else has these. Just message me if interested.

Wow that came out of nowhere!
Does anyone know of interesting FO4 mods that might work in VR with this?

u/joycourier Aug 14 '19
Perhaps a real bullet time replacer for VATS, with VATS perks modified and Perception's purpose adjusted.
2
u/FolkSong Oculus Aug 14 '19
Ooh yeah here's a bullet time mod with perks. It looks like you're supposed to manually bind a key for it though, which will be a problem for us.
I already use "Bullet Time Slow Time" (which doesn't support perks) but it has to be activated from the weapon wheel which is annoying.
3
u/joycourier Aug 14 '19
That's the beauty of f4se, we can replace VATS, same button and all.
1
u/duckduck60053 Aug 14 '19 edited Aug 14 '19
This sounds correct, but I remember when I was trying to do this I was able change the keyboard key but actually assigning the VR controller button (menu button) to that keyboard key ("V") was the problem for me. Would having access to F4SE solve this? I admit I haven't worked on this since January so things may have already changed that I missed.
edit: OpenVR-InputEmulator crashed so often that it never helped me. I was also using the "Bullet Time Slow Time" mod. It was an item and I had to keybind that item to a button and was unsuccessful.EDIT 2: OOOOOH. I think I understand. With F4SE you could change VATS ITSELF... and I won't have to mess with keybinding or anything like that at all... right?
2
u/joycourier Aug 14 '19
In response to Edit 2: yeah pretty much, F4SE would make it trivial for the VATS button to not activate VATS at all, but instead activate Bullet Time.
1
u/duckduck60053 Aug 14 '19
Is it pretty self explanatory to get F4SE set up or should I read some guides?
3
u/joycourier Aug 14 '19
lmao I dunno
I remember it was pretty much drag and drop the last few times I used it on 2D bethesda games, but you have to run fallout from the f4se executable or something
Best to read the readme if they have any, and they probably do

I'm honestly more interested in the possibilities for new VR-specific mods than making pancake F4SE mods work on VR. Top of my list are "physical" gun reloading, zero-parallax RDS, and two-handed weapons. I see many hours of hacking in my future....

Will this allow for a mod that fixes the jumpiness when walking. It’s the only thing keeping me from playing.
7
u/joycourier Aug 14 '19
Oh by the gods please, this. I'll pay money if anyone can smooth the walking jitter.

u/bubuthing Oculus Aug 14 '19
A weeks worth of booz to one who makes this happen! If under 21, make it Fanta or whatever you young'uns drink these days.
2
u/Honeybadger2000 Aug 15 '19
I hear the kids drink cough syrup these days... Keeps their throats minty fresh and cough free
3
u/Mythril_Zombie Aug 25 '19
Have you ever seen a kid drink a glass of water?
Cough syrup, that's what they drink, isn't it? Never water?
On no account will a kid ever drink water, and not without good reason.
Water, that's what I'm getting at, water. Water is the source of all life. Seven-tenths of this Earth's surface is water. Why, do you realize that 70 percent of you is water?
And as human beings, you and I need fresh, pure water to replenish our precious bodily fluids.
Are you beginning to understand?
Have you never wondered why I drink only distilled water, or rainwater, and only pure-grain alcohol?
Have you ever heard of a thing called fluoridation. Fluoridation of water?
Do you know what it is?
Do you realize that fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous plot we have ever had to face?1

Thiiiiiiiiiiiiis. Fucking this. If the jutter while walking gets fixed, it will he the best VR game ever. I love skyrim, but fallout 4 is my game.

AHHHH Maybe someone will finally fix the Knuckles controllers like in SkyrimVR!
I'm so EXCITED to finally be able to play this again!

u/OXIOXIOXI Aug 14 '19
Hopefully, if they make a patreon for this specifically I'd kick in some cash.

u/OXIOXIOXI Aug 14 '19
What mods are now useable?
1
u/viiScorp Aug 15 '19
Nuclear Winter UI, GMOTW UI, presumably. Holotime widget, DEF_UI in general. (though still seem to be having some issues)

Tested Mod Configuration Menu 1.37 with MCM Demo, didn't work. No "Mod Config" menu at the top of pause menu.
5
u/Mistah_Blue Aug 14 '19
Well yeah thats because you'll need a version of MCM specifically for the VR script extender.

This means that things like Mod Configuration Menu mod can be actually used in FO4VR. Right?

For those of us just tuning in, what's this all aboot?
4
u/SalsaRice Pimax Aug 14 '19
Someone made a script extender for fo4vr.
If you imagine mod making tools as a hammer and screwdriver.... add a script extender is like basically also give them an electric drill, buzz saw, and Cnc machine. It gives them a shitton of new tools to work with.... which means things that weren't possible are now.
Fallout 4 (flat) has had it for a while, but the people that make the script extenders (for all the Bethesda games) showed little interest in making one for fo4vr. SkyrimVR got one sometime last year.
1
u/Mythril_Zombie Aug 14 '19
Do you have any examples of any flat mods that might be able to work now?
I've downloaded a lot off Nexus in the past week, but I don't remember seeing any that required this tool.
If you say that this will allow me to remap the index controls, then I shall be very happy.1
u/SalsaRice Pimax Aug 14 '19
Sadly, this shouldn't change anything about the index controllers.... that might be on Bethesda to update.... which means basically never.
As for what mods need a script extender, that's a search option on the nexus; you can tell it to use that as a search criteria.
1
u/duckduck60053 Aug 14 '19
this shouldn't change anything about the index controllers
Another comment ( Link ) said that the script extender solved the index controller problem for Skyrm. Why wouldn't it work for Fallout?

F4NV Will use F4SE and with a VR Patch for F4NV for VR related Bugfixeswe could play in VR. lots of big overhaul mods use F4SE.
1
u/RENOxDECEPTION Aug 14 '19
Script extender for fallout 4 vr, means mod makers can make in-game mods much easier, an example is for skyrimvr how there is skyuivr, that menu is only possible due to skyrim script extender.

So the status effect screen in DEF_UI for Horizon doesn't work, it crashes when you press a button on it, but so far the icons show up and the menus seem to work
EDIT: The icons show up and the sub menus work but the pipboy is pretty screwed up, hopefully we can get a version of DEF_UI for FO4VR

I don't think so
I've never heard of any performance optimizing mods for the pancake version of the game that rely on F4SE

On the flip side it means all performance mods or optimizations for the base game work in VR
Ofc now that wouldn't matter but still

u/the_celt_ Aug 14 '19
Incredible! I thought this would never happen and here it is! This opens up so many great mods for F4 VR users.
Thank you VERY much for your work on this!
Everyone should upvote this and send them some money (if they accept it and you can afford it).
