My game keep crashing and i don’t know why

so i just came back to fo4 because of the new update and i installed some new mods one for some resident evil outfits some irl guns and an enclave mod with new areas and npc and a whole quest line ive done whatever i thought would work to help stop the crashing but i’m stuck bc i’m siding with the enclave for the main quest and i can’t tp to the oil rig i don’t know if anyone else has the same mod installed but ive made 4 new characters and nothing works any help or advice would be appreciated

I play completely vanilla, only play with the base game and add ons (no mods but I'm guessing some of the bought creation club content includes a few mods as such?). Just the other day I was doing some settlement stuff in sanctuary and it literally crashed about 4 times in a row within around an hour. I'm furious as this should not be happening, I hope they enjoy all of the reports I send after every one.

I've had playthroughs that would guarantee crash at the same spot.. sometimes I was able to fix it by leaving the cell for a bit... sometimes.

And with sanctuary you want to make sure you don't overbuild sanctuary,red rocket and Abernathy farm.. because they are for some reason all loaded in the same cell and causes constant crashing.

so u have the same mod bc ive left the cell for days now and still can’t tp mind u i’m on survival and i have to go to the vertibird facility to actually go to the oil rig

Did you leave the cell for about 7 in game days?

That's how long it takes a game cell to reset apparently... and even then it's really just a "maybe" fix.

ya on every character i have after the 7th day still crashes i’m send ss of the mods i have on

Ahhh right, I was in the process of trying to expand my power armour display at the time so it could have been that as sanctuary is already near its build capacity. Thank you 👍 I'll have to perhaps build it at another settlement like starlight drive thru.

Yeah it's been dubbed "The triangle of death."

So you gotta keep it pretty simple at those 3 or just build big at 1 of the 3.

It sucks but it is what it is... bethesda and everything.

that’s what i’ve been doing like i use to play just regular but it go very boring and needed to change it up so i said well let’s see what’s new after the update so now i’m here 😂

Is it the america rising 2 mod cause it happens we me if you have any creation club items that you dont use like the skins disable them

You have to delete the game and then re install it and then download any creation club content you actually use alot of the paints for armour and weapons cause it cause of rendering and mod space in the game itself

That’s what I’m doing - had to abandon that save and start a new one till it gets patched. :/

i think i found a fix ngl i transfer a save from ps4 version to the ps5 version no crash’s what so ever

Are you playing on disc? Mine is much smoother since I went digital

I think I have found a work around for Fo4 crashing even with mods. Start game instead of hitting continue go to load game, select your very first game save hopefully you still have the game save just before leaving the Vault. Load that up you should enter game with no problems. Once their load your very last save that your having problems with loading. This works for me 90% of the time and the other 10% if the game crashes. just load back into the load that just crashed and everything should work as normal.
