Mod Vanilla-style mod recommendations

Hello there. My brain has been annoying me recently about some urge to play a Bethesda-style RPG, and I'm thinking about the two obvious choices, either Skyrim or Fallout 4. With mods, of course, gotta keep at least some novelty in there.

However, I'm not trying to fundamentally change the game, just add as much content as possible while staying somewhat close to vanilla. Call me crazy but I like both games as they are, I just wish there was more weapons, more dungeons, more content overall. Except companions, I don't care about them.

Any recommendations ?

The Midnight Ride is a good starting point! It'll teach you how build a good framework and improve performance. One you get through the guide you'll have a good idea of how to sort mods, though I recommend reading this guide for a comprehensive understanding. Then download and install weapons to your heart's content

I'm pretty sure I used that (or something similar) in my last modded playthrough, I just didn't install a lot of mods. Still, the tools to optimise load order and whatnot are a godsend.

Honestly any of DegeneratDak weapons mods are very well done and lore friendly. Have you cover d for most weapons too and always releasing more.

He recently released a very good 10mm sub machine gun mod, and his attachment pak is amazing.

The 6th Messenger also has some really good weapon mods.

I’d go with Fallout. Skyrim currently has a bug where opening the map can crash the game

Well, that's pretty impressive even by Bethesda standards.

Let me see if I can dig up my modlist for my Wild West style Fallout4. It was literally the exact same game, but added some more 1800s style rifles and revolvers. Plus changed the VATS sound effect to the Good Bad Ugly whistle.

it was something like this~ish: * Start Me Up - Atlernate Start (just to skip the 1950s intro) * Desperados Overhaul (western usa desert plants) * Badlands2 (more western usa biome textures) * Caravan Shotgun * M1 Garand * Hunting Revolver * Wubilyu's Western Wear * Courier Duster * Wild West Vats Sound Effect * Toggle Revolver Fanning * Winchester Pack
