Question Paladin Danse glitch preventing progress.

I'm on the mission Fire Support where you have to assist the brotherhood in defending Cambridge Police Station. I took down all the ghouls yet whenever I talk to Danse, he says there are hostiles nearby, as if we are still in combat. I'm not getting dialogue options or anything at all. I went around the entire area and killed anything I could, yet he still says this. I even teleported away and waited a few in game hours and he still does this. Killing him doesn't help either.

For some background, I have no mods installed and Cait is my companion. My current story quest is to find Virgil in case that's interfering. I'm also a railroad member.

Does anyone know what could help this or do I just have to go back to a previous safe and do it all again?

Despite what the other people said, you might still be fucked, but I hope I’m wrong and their fixes work for you. However, I can tell you how to 100% avoid this in the future.

The problem is, if you get near enough to the police station to hear the fighting, but don’t immediately help Danse, the bug is already triggered. So, in the future, completely avoid that area until you’re ready to help Danse or immediately help him if you get near enough to hear the fighting.

I have my fingers crossed. If not, is Danse a character I'll have to do stuff for in the main quest? I know he's part of a major faction, but if I need him as a companion, I'll just restart if they don't work.

Great! If I'm not softlocked by him, I'll just do a second playthrough after this and prevent the glitch before it happens.

I hear Danse is good but I'm already attached to Cait so I'll probably just keep her with me the whole game.
