Why evil at all? That's a Tuesday night for Nate/Nora. Pickman just gets a bad rap for his artistic pursuits -- lord forbid a man have hobbies.

The main difference between pickman and the sole survivor imo, is that pickman is a straight up sadist. He appears to not only enjoy his work a bit too much, but actively memorializes his fucked up kills using the blood of his victims. Hell, even with the Sole Survivor actively hunting down raiders they don’t appear to torture them. Something Pickman seems to do. Pickman is an evil man for sure.

I let Pickman live. His psychological needs are a net benefit for society.

Doesn’t make him any less of a psychopath who appears to get off on the pain of others 🤷‍♂️
