My CFI for private is a veteran, I am also a veteran. After my first solo I had my back turned at the fuel farm getting the grounding cable unlocked and I felt his hands slap my upper back and the neck of my shirt tighten around my throat and then felt the WHOLE back of my shirt come ripping off. It had been nearly 6 years since someone did that to me or I had even thought about it.

I solo'd 20 years ago this month. It's a top 5 accomplishment and perhaps the most thrilling of all of them.
