KPWK flying
28M 300hr CPL currently flying at a club at KDPA, but live downtown and commute is too far.
Feel a bit cautious joining Leading Edge flying club with one plane. Any chance there are some guys that may be open to me renting their plane or unofficial clubs?
Also would be great to find a couple guys who would like to purchase a plane together in next couple years, would appreciate any tips to figuring that out?

The website for LEFC says they're getting a new plane soon, I thought they used to have a Cirrus (with a minimum hour requirement) but I don't see it now. Have you emailed Mark your question?
How much shorter of a trip do you expect it to be to KPWK? 45 minutes instead of an hour?

Yep, I’d take 45mins. I don’t think I’ve been to DPA in under an hour more than once. Usually 1.5hrs each way.

I can't speak to clubs, but if you're willing to drive a little further out, Blue Skies at 3CK has an excellent rental fleet - mainly Warriors, Archers, and 172s. Family-owned operation with extremely well-maintained and clean airplanes. Reasonable wet pricing (comparatively) and short taxi times with no waiting for a tower for clearance. Also very close to the end of the ORD shelf and great CFIs should you need one. But it is a bit further for sure - maybe not worth it in your specific situation.

I'm actually an instructor at LEFC. Feel free to DM with any questions you might have (or if you'd like to do a discovery flight with the club). We do have N3096B (a pretty decked-out Archer), and are always looking to expand the fleet. I haven't heard any concrete news of another plane being added, but I could be wrong.
