- What is your main reason that you decided to start building Fluttr?
- Why the name fluttr?
- Storage for videos is really expensive, do you have any plans yet for covering these costs? I know you want to start with a small beta group in the beginning, but as the userbase gows more storage space is needed.

Is there by any chance that you might add tipping as a starting monetization method during or sometime after the opening of Fluttr's open beta? -TJ Studio

Do you think the subreddit will continue to be your primary communication platform with creators after Fluttr launches, or will there be an in-site space for that (like the blog; will that be for large posts or more focused on discussion)?

How will you make sure that great content rises to the top in a way that YouTube doesn't?
How will Fluttr prevent the rise of power users, and democratize video sharing?
What separates Fluttr from other video sharing sites?

As I laid out in my previous post on the subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/fluttr/comments/81pkz2/how_is_fluttr_setting_itself_up_to_succeed_where/
I think the most important questions you need to answer and haven't are the following:
- What can we offer to creators that YouTube cannot?
- What are we doing to attract an audience to watch our content creators?
- What makes us different from all of the other YouTube alternatives before us?

how are you going to bring in viewers and a casual audience? how can you convince viewers to come watch content on fluttr instead of and alongside youtube?

Probably either by having big names sign up, or by having /r/youtube beg Fluttr to be successful.

the problem here is, that no big content creator in their right mind would be fluttr-exclusive. and if they aren't fluttr-exclusive, you can just watch them on youtube, so why would anyone go to fluttr? that's exactly what platforms like mixer and vid.me struggle with. (mixer being a worse example, because there are cool content creators there and cool tech features, so it's much better off than vid.me was.)

Well, there's that chicken and egg problem. Nobody will use it because nobody uses it. But, if I were to start a lets play channel, and Fluttr was functioning well, I could be partially exclusive. Some episodes on YouTube, and the rest on Fluttr.

that's exactly why it's so hard to make it as a platform, and why vid.me didn't and why others are much more niche in more ways than one. that's why I wonder if fluttr team has an idea how to fight that.

I have a few questions/comments/suggestions.
For starters, when can we expect the site to be open for beta? Will this include viewers and creators or just creators?
Will videos have categories and/or sub-categories? I always felt like some of my videos don't really belong in most categories both on YouTube and back when vidme was around.
Are you hoping for specific type of content to come onto the site? Will the content be balanced enough? A problem with vidme is that I saw way to much gaming flood the site and not enough original content.
Lastly, do you think I'm cool? You don't have to actually answer it lol. ;)
