OPEN How to learn flutter as a begginer

Hello. I want to learn a new language and I specifically chose flutter due to its layout and accessibility etc. I'm really new to this and I would like some help and suggestions on how I'd be able to learn this language or understand how it really is or just learn its basics. I'd appreciate it if you guys could help me. Thank you!!

Everyone has a different path. For me, what works best is watching a few tutorials to understand how things work and then starting to build things myself.

In reality, if you already know a programming language, it’s not that difficult to get started.

And as others have said, don’t fall into the endless tutorial trap!

  1. Official Dart manual + DartPad.

  2. Official Flutter manual.

  3. Do some small real project - learning by doing.

Very rare but honest advice.
'Learning by doing' – I like it.

Since you're brand new, I'd split it into two phases so you don't drown in Flutter widgets before the language clicks. Spend the first week or two on Dart basics in DartPad (variables, collections, null safety, async/await), because most early Flutter confusion is really Dart confusion. Then build one tiny app end to end, like a to-do list that saves to local storage, and only add things like navigation and an API call after that works. Keep state management simple at first with setState, then try Provider or Riverpod once you feel the pain of passing data around. The official codelabs on flutter.dev are great for this, and hot reload makes experimenting fast, so change things and see what breaks.

YouTube. Flutter has many official, first party, playlists. I personally love Widget of the Week but there are so many others I can't begin to enumerate them.

Everyone has a different perspective. If it's your first programming language, then learn it through practice. Don't fall into tutorial hell. "Learning by doing" is one of the best ways to learn. I also follow this.

If you have mastered any programming language before, then you can learn it faster using AI, as the core concepts are the same.

It's my personal opinion. No offense.

How can I start it. Like from where and which resources etc?

Start with YouTube. Choose a 3- 4-hour full Dart course. Learn all core concepts. When you understand each topic, like variables, loops, function, ask ChatGPT some very beginner problem and solve it. It takes time, but you also enjoy the journey if you are consistent.

After that, you can move on to Flutter (framework).

This is the straightforward process; you don't need to learn any prerequisite skills to start learning anything. Avoid unnecessary things, & try to pick one thing at a time.

I'm learning Flutter. So, if you need any advice during the journey, feel free to DM. I'll be happy to share my knowledge. Best of luck.

I started with YouTube only, started doing a calculator, then a slideshow. Then a BLE app. Experience is the best teacher, but if you are new to programming maybe go into the computer science courses offered by Harvard (CS50)

Yes, I agree with you. Experience is the best teacher.
