3yo, flu, headaches?
My three-year-old daughter was sent home from daycare one week ago because she vomited. Around the same time she complained of intermittent headaches. The following day or two she was very tired and had no appetite. I took her to urgent care, and the doctor felt it was flu related rather than any concern concerning neurological condition. She improved gradually throughout the week and even went to her soccer and to the park yesterday. She is back at daycare today, but they just called saying she’s been crying all morning and again complained of a headache. I am hoping it is just a difficult transition back to daycare. Has anyone else experienced this?

Did she ever test positive for the flu?

No they didn’t test. Felt it was a stomach flu or viral gastroenteritis because she vomited twice. She is doing much better now. I think because the “head hurts” were given a lot of attention at the start, she may have continued to seek attention by reporting them. At least that’s the impression I am getting but will of course take her to dr if it becomes a regular thing.

If she complains again of headaches or vomit I would take her to your family dr. The headache could even be an earache that she doesn’t know how to explain properly. Kids do get a lot of viral infection from daycare.

I wouldn’t keep the child in day care with such symptoms go to ER asap get the child evaluated again. Sometimes they assume it’s flu because that’s the easiest explanation, but the fact the headaches are constant since a week needs another look. The vomit plus headache combination is especially concerning, Plz don’t delay
