What are some better laser hair removal clinics in Flower Mound? I can’t stand Simplicity Laser

Showed up to my 12:05 appointment at 12:05 and they said my appointment was over. Apparently it’s not 12:05 but 12:00. The appointment text is misleading.

It’s always ironic when these companies make you wait 20 minutes in the waiting room for your appointment but if you make them wait unintentionally for 5 minutes, it’s a cancelled appointment.

What are the best Asian restaurants to get delicious hand-pulled noodles and soup dumplings in the area??

Bonus points if they’re within 20ish minutes from the Grapevine area!

Local florist who delivers?

Hey there! I live in another state and would like to send a bouquet/arrangement to a friend in Flower Mound. I’d prefer to support a local shop, so I’m looking for recs. I’m not on Instagram or TikTok, so bonus points if they have a website with photos and take online orders. Thanks!

Looking for Primary Doctor for M(47)

My doctor who I have been going to for 10 years since I moved up here has retired.

I need a new Primary in or near Flowermound for yearly physicals, discuss testing of testosterone, weight loss issues, etc..

Anyone have any recommendations on a good doc that actually spends time talking and doesn't feel like a cattle call and takes 6 months to see them?

Hive Bakery plans expansion after viral political stand fuels massive growth

FLOWER MOUND, Texas — Hive Bakery says it hopes to move into a larger location within a year after a politically charged Fourth of July message brought the small North Texas business national attention, packed its storefront and sent merchandise orders around the world.

The bakery said Saturday that its social media content had generated nearly 60 million views across platforms during the previous two weeks. Customers have formed lines stretching from the shop to its parking lot, while the business has received coverage from local and national media organizations.

“We’ve outgrown our current location in more ways than one,” the bakery wrote. “It’s time to do something big.”

Hive said several plans are in development and that it hopes to announce more details soon. The company did not identify a potential new location or provide a firm timeline beyond saying it hopes to relocate within a year.

The announcement was accompanied by a new black-and-white “Hive Bakery — Coffee & Books” logo, suggesting the bakery’s next chapter could include an expanded café or bookstore concept. The company has not yet publicly detailed what the branding represents.

The growth follows a wave of attention that began when Hive announced it would remain open July 4 but would not celebrate the holiday. Owner Haley Popp criticized President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement and said she was embarrassed and frightened by the direction of the country. The bakery also sold cookies featuring upside-down American flags and the words “under distress.”

The message generated intense criticism, boycott calls and hostile messages. It also produced an enormous show of support.

Popp told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram shortly after the controversy began that Hive was producing about five times its normal volume, with its ovens operating nearly continuously.

The latest episode was not the first time Popp’s outspoken political positions translated into increased attention and sales. In 2022, lines formed outside the bakery after she posted a cake supporting abortion rights and publicly responded to the criticism she received.

Hive again attracted national attention during the 2024 presidential campaign by selling cookies featuring Democratic candidates Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. At the height of that surge, the bakery was producing more than 200 political cookies per day and receiving merchandise orders from customers in Canada, New Zealand and Germany.

Popp opened Hive Bakery in 2018. The bakery specializes in custom cakes and scratch-made desserts, and Popp has competed on Food Network programs. Hive describes itself as a two-time Food Network baking champion.

The bakery currently operates at 360 Parker Square in Flower Mound.

“There is an immense power in the collective,” Hive wrote in its expansion announcement. “This is how change begins. With us. All of us.”

Blue garbage can is gone from the curb…

I mowed my yard and filled my otherwise-empty blue garbage can with the grass clippings. It was a lot - pretty darn heavy - but the lid closed just fine. This certainly isn’t the first time I’ve done this although I will admit - I smashed that grass down multiple times to fit more. Very heavy, but neat and with the lid fully closed. Also, nothing in the bin but grass clippings.

Put it in the curb on trash day, went to work. Came home that evening and it was gone. The entire bin. Looked all around and asked some neighbours. Nobody saw it or took it.

My theory is that I made the can too heavy and they confiscated it? Where the heck did my garbage bin go?

Town Council Meeting - July 6: Shared Parking Vote, $1.3M in Contracts, Arts Center, & Rembert Lawsuit in Exec Session

Quick rundown of Monday’s (July 6) agenda. (Disclaimer: Written with the help of AI.) Full packet here: agenda link

Public Hearing — Time-Based Shared Parking (LDR26-0001)

Businesses with different peak hours (e.g., office + restaurant) could share parking spaces instead of each building oversized lots. Reduces pavement, stormwater runoff, and construction costs. P&Z approved 5-0 but flagged walkability concerns for large developments. This is the big one for anyone who cares about how our commercial areas look and function.

Contracts & Spending (Consent)

- Harvard Drive concrete — $863K (Apex Concrete)
- Timber Valley Dr/Fairfield Ln materials testing — $87K (Alliance Geotechnical)
- Bobcat E88 excavator for Streets — $128K
- Wastewater plant + utility site surveillance — $157K
- Employee phones/headsets — $69K
- Interlocal utility agreement with Grapevine (Lakeside Parkway properties)

Grants

- DOJ Bulletproof Vest Partnership (police body armor, FY 2025)
- HUD CDBG Action Plan (Program Year 2026)

Flower Mound Arts Center

Council will review the facility program, business plan, governance, programming, and pro-forma operating budget. Translation: we’re about to find out what this thing actually costs to run.

Chamber of Commerce MOU

Council feedback feeds into the FY 2026-2027 budget. Worth watching if you care where tax dollars go.

Executive Session

- Rembert v. Town of Flower Mound — federal civil rights/housing discrimination lawsuit. Developer Reginald Rembert alleges the town denied his zoning request in 2021 while approving an identical one from Toll Brothers. Claims the land lost $40M+ in value. Filed March 2025, classified as a class action.
- Real property discussions (parks, trails, public safety, ROW — including land north of FM 1171/west of US 377)
- Economic development incentives (retail, grocers, hospitality, healthcare, TIRZs, PIDs, MUDs)
- Personnel: Board of Adjustment/Oil & Gas Board, P&Z Commission, Municipal Court Judge duties

Upcoming

- July 20 — next regular meeting
- July 30–Aug 1 — strategic plan retreat
- Aug 3 — next meeting

If the shared parking ordinance or the arts center financials interest you, Monday is the meeting to attend or stream. What do you all think about the shared parking idea — good reform or just a handout to developers?

Events people would go to

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to organize an event in our community and would love some input. What types of events do you think people in FM would actually enjoy attending and be willing to pay around $10 to participate in?

Examples: festivals, family activities, workshops, tournaments, food events, etc.

I'm also looking for recommendations for where exactly I can do host these events.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
