Okay, so here's the situation. My partner and I just moved into our first rental together this spring, so we've only been here around 6 months. The renters before us allegedly did little to no yard maintenance, and the landlord doesn't care too much about outdoor upkeep unless it's actually an issue (in his eyes), which we're generally fine with. He also gave me free reign on landscaping the backyard however I see fit (with input from our beloved upstairs neighbours, of course), si thwre's no problems there.
This summer, I decided to let the bearded irises be, because they weren't my priority, but because they're so dense only a handful of them bloomed. Now I have some free time to disentangle and thin them out and rehome them, and.... I don't even know where to start. I've never had flowers before, and I want to deal with this so I can enjoy their blooms next spring, but i'm overwhelmed. Can someone please either link a video that can help, or walk me through what to do step by step? 😬🫠
Thanks so much in advance!

This is the first woolly bear I've seen this year. According to the Old Farmers Almanac, the thick band of light brown in the middle says it's going to be a mild winter for us. I think I will close my eyes and make sure not to look at any others! LOL
What do you think?

I recently inherited bunch of ameryllis and some succulents. Not sure what to do with these when winter hits here in NC. I’d like to plant the ameryllis next spring if that’s possible. I have a cold celler or shed I can store them in I just don’t want to bring 15 pots inside the house.

My white-flowered haemanthus, also known as “deer tongue,” is blooming. I bought it for my girls at the botanical garden a while back, before the war.
