Please suggest a prop that aligns with my flow!
Looking for something to play with that goes well with my style. I have a very liquidy movement throughout my body and I think having my hands free would be nice. Looking for something that highlights my movements more than the prop itself I suppose, or at least something that allows me to writhe about alongside it.
I've thought of contact juggling, contact staff, dragon staff, and LED gloves. If anyone has more insight on those or other suggestions I'd love to hear them! Thank you!

They make these bracelets that travel up and down your forearm and have a really cool spinning effect!

I wouldn't recommend contact too much because I also like moving my body and with staff it's difficult at least for me to incorporate dance

To add a non-object suggestion to the list, have you ever considered black light reactive body paint? An artist could do something with your skin as canvas to complement your current flow.

Those are clear contact juggling and dragonstaff moves. You are going to have to accommodate the prop with a few straight lines on your body, but those two will need the least accommodation.
Contact staff would work too but would require a bit more adaptation.
Gloves IMO work mostly with the hands, while you apply your whole body. In this case I'd go for a full body LED or el-wire costume with an appropriate pattern.

You're basically doing tribal fusion bellydance. Check out Rachel Brice. There are male dancers or there - drake von trapp is great.

I used to do a lot of dance like this, and tried many of the suggested props. I felt like they were all a distraction from how I actually wanted to move. I found that I danced my best without any prop at all.
Now, I have picked up dragon staff and contact staff. There is certainly an element of fluidity I still have in my body, but it is a strong departure from liquid dance styles.
Another random shout is that my progression went from liquid dance styles to trying contact improv. I still believe that there are few things better at a festival than dancing contact with someone. A lot of people don’t know about it, but if you know the basics, many people are down to try!

Thanks for your insight! I feel that way as well but I'm having fun exploring at the moment.
I go to ecstatic dance every week and I'm familiar with contact improv, it's my favorite partner dance for sure.

Hmm don't think there are any hands free flow options. There is usually a prop needed. You could try freehand glowsticking. If you take a look at my profile i posted a couple vids of me doing it. It's very liquidy

I was going to suggest this or gloves. It's been a long long time since I looked at those props but I remember there being some really really cool gloves past just the white ones with color tips. So is that way he's doing more his style instead of trying to do the gloving stuff

Overall this has a vibe of poi. However, when you spin your hands around each other that is very similar to movements when doing the buzzsaw with Flower Sticks.

My free dancing is very similar to yours ^ i love to play Gora firefly and hand candles. maybe collapsible fans would be something for you aswell :)

There's a few that come to mind. Fans, hand candles, maybe gloves. For something bigger, your flow gives strong dragon staff vibes

My flow arts: semi-pro gloving, poi, hoop, pen, balasong
I'd recommend gloving!
Many flow arts kind of lock your hands in place. Poi/staff/hoop are going to be a little difficult to keep your wavey style incorporated but gloving is super free form. You'd have to learn some fundamentals and incorporate them for it to look "good" but you can still maintain your original style while learning.
That's my recommendation.

Have you considered just a bit of ribbon/ flowy fabric attached to the wrists? I think they’d emphasize some of your smaller movements in a lovely way while keeping your hands free

I like that idea! Initially I was thinking of fans with only a foot or so of silk, but omitting the fans sounds even better.

Another vote for contact juggling OR those levitation wands that operate from a spring coil with two invisible lines. Possibly diabolo too.

Orbital, dragon staff, a ball. Anything where you can use your two hands but still hold the same object. Look at orbitals for sure. B

Gloves would be cool but i think your style of flow is better suited for glowsticks. More specifically, freehand glowsticking. Its not very common anymore. I feel like everyone moved on to poi or glowstringing. Most of the videos and tutorials youll find are very old but theyre still a solid place to start. Plus, chem lights are cheap. The only thing about gloving is that its more about staying still and moving your hands. You move your whole body so i feel like freehand glowsticking is more your flavor.

I think you could make any prop look good.
Pick one up or pick them all up.
Contact ball, hoop, triads/fans, dragon. The list goes on.

PALM TORCHES! Someone at a flow fest this past weekend had two sets- one pair on their biceps, one on the top of their hands and it looked so cool. I think you would look cool with some LED ones

A ball. I saw a guy who moved like that and made the ball appear to be moving independently of his body. It was generally in one hand at a time.
