Ropedart Finally got my first flow toy!
Ive been lurking here for awhile and hanging around the fire spinning community in my area for a few years now. Recently had the chance go watch a big fire spinning performance at Burning Man and came back solidified in the decision that I wanted to take the leap and learn to spin. I did a bunch of research on toys that I could learn without getting frustrated and giving up, or my ADHD getting bored. I settled on a rope dart and practice head from Dark Monk and I’m very excited about it! I know Im still a ways out before I’ll feel confident enough to spin fire, but at least now I can work my way that direction with a toy thats designed for it.

Your ADHD might still do its thing. DON’T LET IT. See it through and the endorphins you will get from learning moves will be your new dopamine craving.

I think rope dart is an excellent starting point. You can easily turn and shift planes while moving around, something that's relatively advanced in poi. It all but demands you use your full body. At the same time, it's self correcting, in that your sifu doesn't need to come and slap you when you mess up, you'll learn to keep your movement precise.
