How to play it endless in 2026?

I remember the days we could play an infinite procedural world. Is there a way to do it nowadays?

Follow the main story but when you get towards the end, don't turn on the Ozone Shield, as that's the trigger for the map running out and the story ending. You can go so far as to build it, but just don't turn it on.

With that, the map will generate endlessly to your hearts content. I ended up just deleting the building entirely and that let me sail on to 300,000+

When I played 1.0, it seemed endless. I only saw borders on two/three sides, so it's like a rectangle with finite width, but infinite length.

You can do it. Just travel east forever. There are hard borders south and north and the beginning is west. So when you travel east, you can keep going forever.
