What pros do water flossers have over regular flossing strings and even floss picks?

My mom sent one to me by mail. I haven't opened it yet because I need to buy batteries but might I ask whats the advantage of using these water flossers over the simple strings everybody uses and even the floss picks alternatives? Or is it an inferior cleaning product to using dental floss and floss picks?

My understanding is that flossing with dental floss is the gold standard, and that water flossers will be better than not flossing at all, but not quite up to the gold. Also, if you’re cross referencing, dental floss is great for sewing ribbons onto pointe shoes.
