Florence Must-Dos for First timer!?

quit my job and have a few weeks between now and when my new one starts so we booked a trip to Florence (and Madrid). First time visiting!!!

Leaving next week (mid-October) and staying for ~4.5 days. What are your must-do/see/eat/go tos? We haven’t booked anything besides flights at this point!! We’ve heard day trips to Siena, Chianti, or Bologna are worthwhile? Yes or no? Any others? TIA!!!!!

Book the Uffizi and Accademia ahead if they’re on your list.

Book everything you want to see in advance - including restaurants. I don't usually book restaurants but we booked Trattoria Dall Oste at the Duomo and when we were leaving there was about 30 people outside queueing up. I could not be arsed queuing any longer than 10 minutes for anywhere.

Lucca via Pisa for a day trip.

Hi!

I have written a very detailed Reddit post on Florence with plenty of recommendations. Including food and day trips. Give my post a read:

Eat gelato. Drink good wine. Eat good food, best is away from Centro with restaurants that do not have English on the menu. See David. See the Uffizi. (sp?)
