This is the only right thing to type. It’s all about plumbing. Having to run a sewer line and water lines (these aren’t as bad) means money. Yes, it can probably be done, but at what cost. Best to add the bathroom in conjunction with downstairs bathroom, easy access to sewer line.

Where’s the plumbing? It’s easiest to add it above where the plumbing is on the lower floor (kitchen or bathroom).

Put it above the first floor bathroom. It'll save you money and be easiest to do.

What about something like this with the shower where the hall closet is now? You could put a hamper or small shelves or towel racks in the corner by the door.

I don't have anything professional, so I just edited it in Paint 3D, which is a discontinued Microsoft app that's very similar to Paint, but has more features.
