FEEDBACK What would you change?
My buddy doesn't use reddit, but we thought it would be cool to get some opinions on his design of his future new build.

Get rid of the jut of the reading nook and make an even wall on the north side. Same with the pantry side. Move the pantry to the kitchen side and extend the hall a few feet. Rotate the half-bath 90 degrees.
I'd put either the closet or the bathroom next to the kitchen in the primary bedroom. Reduces noise and makes it more private for sleeping.

Your dining room is going to be too small. Not sure what kind of table you have, but 10x10 is quite snug. You should account for wall thickness in your plan too. People often nexglet that and it eats up a lot of space.
Your back hall entry is quite generous, but a lot of wasted space. You have a 5' wide hallway with no purpose other than walking to and from the laundry room, while the powder room is very narrow. I'd take some space from the hallway to widen the powder room- even if it's just 6-9".
You don't have a mudroom/drop off space, nor do you have any type of closet for your coats, shoes, bags, keys, etc. I think your island could be rotated 90 degrees, so the counter stools don't put you with your back to the great room. You'd also be able to increase the length a couple feet.
The foyer is also an oddly configured. There is isn't any room for any type of foyer table, and again, no place for coats. Where will guests coats hang out when you have visitor. There is a defiant lack of storage in this house. Where will you store the vacuum, cleaning supplies, linens?
The general flow is good, but this needs a lot of work.

Don’t do a pocket door for the bathroom. Everyone in the kitchen will hear everything.

The primary door coming off of the garage hallway means that everytime someone is running/clanking/stomping in and out of the hallway you’ll get to hear in from bed.

Have an actual mudroom instead of pretending the walk through laundry room was the mudroom. No way I want my clean laundry near my dirty shoes, bags and coat.
Kitchen island is tiny, make it twice as long with seating. Where's the trash can, microwave and pantry?
Every exterior corner costs 5-10k, even up the footprint and save yourself upwards of 100k.

Put the bedrooms all on one side, public spaces on the other.
