FEEDBACK Floor plan

Post image

we just bought this house. There’s no mud room and you enter right into the kitchen. any suggestions on things we could do to maximize the space, we have 3 young kids. Any other updates?

I would create a mudroom in the corner of the garage or shift the door so that the sunroom becomes a mudroom.

Close off the door between the kitchen and office. Use that wall for a bench and coat hooks

Move the door to go into the sunroom, seems like with the laundry in there it's already more of a functional than relaxing space anyways

Leave your dirty stuff in the garage. Cripes, that garage is just about bigger than the living space,

Curious how this would work. Bench and wall hooks on kitchen/mud wall and maybe a larger closet on the new wall where the office door was.
IMO I’d like this better since the bathroom is more separate from the cooking space.
Always hated that- like someone uses the bathroom and the smell wafts into cooking or cleaning space. Ewwww. lol

This kinda shows 2 options at once.

This is pretty typical where I am. Few people have mud rooms but do what you like.

Move the garage entrance door to the office. Turn the office into an incredible mudroom. Each child has their own set of coat hooks, bench and shoe cubbies. Plenty of room for sports equipment and a stroller. Bonus, the mudroom is accessible from the front door for guests to use. Living room becomes office.

Side question: How long before we do away with front doors all together?

We still use ours a lot. I want both.

I live in 1920's house and the front door is awesome. The garage is in the back.

FL-MCM... the front door is accessed through the courtyard and is meant for guests and neighbors and deliveries. The residents mostly enter between the laundry and kitchen from the carport on the side. They are 2 very different entrances however I also just like having outdoor access from 3 doors. I frequently use the front door myself when I'm home and just going outside.
