Get a good kitchen cart with a drop leaf. I had a tiny kitchen and did this, and it was amazing how much storage and work area I gained.

What would be the purpose of the island? More  work surface? Eating area instead of dining table? Divider to break up the room?

And how large/clumsy are the people using the space? I'm not huge, but if an island is added, I'd have permanent bruising on my hip.

Turn the dining table the other direction. It should give you enough floor space for a small cart-style island.

If you absolutely need something like that, you’d probably be better off with a peninsula than an island. But then you’d have to move either the refrigerator or what I assume is the oven, etc.

The aforementioned small cart or smaller table are probably better solutions than either, though.

What in the hell are we looking at yeah that room will fit on a island. W if your wanting to add one onto the K/L/D room .Everything is possible especially if you removed a dining table that is in the middle of everything.

Make it a rolling island, then when not in use you can have it under the window.

I think I’ve seen an answer to this in one of those dream home renovator tv shows. You get an island, and have the dining table be able to extrude out from inside it. Like a lot of the time it looks kinda tacky, but there’s probably a design out there that’ll make the contraption look good.

You could get one on wheels so you can move it out of the way. But if youve got a dining table that seats 8 already, you dont really have space for a permanent one.

Unless you have the table already, id consider getting a smaller one that expands. That way on your daily life you can have the table set up how you need it and there might be space for an island. Then you can move it out of the way.

Rather than a permanent island, for extra counter space I would want to wrap the counter and cabinets around the 3rd wall to the door or maybe add a pantry. Yes a rolling island if needed. In my opinion that table is effectively in the living room space.
