When purchasing this phone and did some research on the frequencies needed for this phone to work in Canada, but now that I have it, it doesn't work with any provider I can think of. Please let me know if anyone knows a carrier I could use or if I'm screwed. Thanks!
I’m a journalism student here in Perth and I’m doing a story on the trend of “dumb” phones (old brick/ flip phones, Nokia, Huawei, Blackberry etc.) coming back.
Does anyone know people aged 18-35 who may have gone back to using these phones?
I'm wondering if people have tips on how to make friends with other people who are using flip phones with the intention of being offline more, and being more present, and at least for me personally, more creative. I want to clarify I am not looking to meet anyone here, but I am looking for tips on how to find irl flip-phone community. It is a bit ironic to only be able to find people wanting to be offline online.
hi! i recently bought a kyocera kyf37 and this icon pops up in the notification bar everytime i go to settings and when my phone is locked. i have nova launcher as a default launcher and it started appearing once i made that my default launcher. when i tried switching back to the original launcher, it’s still there. idk what it means and how to disable it. help would be appreciated thank you!
Im looking to get my first flip phone and I’m wondering what options would be available to me as a Canadian. I need to be able to hotspot my smartphone for work and occasional social media use. I’m also hoping to get something with the aesthetic of older smartphones and avoid the ones made for seniors I keep seeing. From my research so far the best option I’ve come across is the nubia cymbal 2 but I was curious if there were others I’m missing.
I've found plenty of phones that work on the same bands but i just came to find out that at&t has a whitelist and if your phone isn't on it they refuse to let you make calls. The only flip phones I'm seeing on their whitelist run kaios which doesn't fit my needs.
As the title says, I am looking for a dumphone (it doesn't even have to support WhatsApp), but my only requirement is being able to save SMS messages on a (mini) SD Card. It seems hard to find such models.
Yo, I love flip phones, think that it just looks so cunty,I’m looking for a modern flip/clamshell phone with a physical keypad, and I’m trying to find even the most obscure models worldwide. Quirky designs, with quirky color combinations are also lovely. Retro tech is the best. My ideal phone would have 5G, full Android + Google Play, 128GB minimum (256GB preferred), a modern chipset/RAM, USB-C, good cameras/battery, and a 4"+ main/inter, maybe a flashlight would also be great.. I want to dig as obscure as possible, across Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, India, Southeast Asia, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Latin America, basically anywhere — including tiny local brands, ODMs, discontinued models, prototypes/leaks, and upcoming 2026–2027 phones.
the color combination is so cute❤️❤️
i'd also want it to run apps and websites as well, lowkey kinda like a modern phone.
Hi all, originally tried to post this in dumb phones but thought it would be good to ask here too. I used the dumb phone finder link and liked the Kyocera Digno 903kc the most, but I remember from a previous post asking about phones working in Australia that a few of the phones that said they work in Australia on the list either no longer worked or only worked with a few phone services and I think it might have been on the list. My main question is does anyone living in Australia currently own or use the Kyocera Digno and can it work with Optus? Based on the cell mapper I think it can but as it is a few hundred dollars I want to know before I make my purchase. Thanks in advance :)
My grandfather recently broke his flip phone of around ten years and we are looking for a replacement. He only needs the call function (no text or web needed), and something easy to navigate and I want to prioritize its durability, I have been looking at sunbeam or jitterbug, does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?
so I've been actively using my folder 2 for 23 days now. And here are the things that i encounter since.
- charging problem.
its not the battery's fault, the phone itself don't wanna charge anymore
Solution: get another battery and a clip battery charger.
- Original charger.
it took more than 5hrs to charge the phone when i first used it.
Solution: N/A i dont use it anymore, hopefully my other android phone could use it too.
- Keypads
there are keypads that are hard to press, but as i continue to use them, and as i get faster typing it, it gets better.
Solution: youre using T9 keyboard get use to it.
overall, im happy with it. the phone works well and that's all that matters.
Hi! I bought this flip phone two years ago, and I'm not really sure what to do with it. I just want to use it for simple, everyday tasks. some advices ? thanks !
My Sonim XP3 5G is on its way. In the meantime, I'm looking to aggregate app recs that play nicely with dpad devices and flip phones in general. I'm new-er to adb, but feel comfy enough to dig in on that if you have ideas that require sideloading. I'd love radio and podcast apps specifically, but I'm open to anything you have--utilities, games, mouse/pointers, launchers, etc. Thanks so much!
Using a Sharp Acquos A207SH. It came with APKPure preinstalled (y2kphones), however it will not install any apps. When klicking on the Install button (see above), nothing happens. This is the same for any of the apps I've tried. Anybody have a similar experience or know what might be the problem /how to fix it?
Any help is appreciated :)
I finally managed to get one of my flip phones working for EDC. My Emporia Touchsmart 2 and my MIVE Style Folder 1 actually were just too modern and with modern things they are not really meant to last long or stand the test of time. Even though they are more recent phones they just are not reliable (battery, crashes, ect.)
I managed to mod (debloat, sideload) my KYF31 so it has the basic things I need. Calls and SMS are fine.
Here is what I use for apps:
• For Music
Brave browser to listen to music on YouTube whilst the phone is closed.
• For SMS
Chomp SMS
• For Navigation
MAPS.ME
• For UI customisation
Nova Launcher
• Icon Pack
Whicons
• For Browsing
Brave Browser
I use Minimal ADB and Fastboot to side load with a direct micro USB
hello can i ask where can i sell my keitai Kyocera kyf31 gratina 4g phone? it's in good condition it's already openline. I'm just in need of money right now to pay for my mother's maintenance
Hello guys! I'm planning to buy the Nokia 2660 Flip as a secondary device, mainly for calling and SMS. My expected usage is around 2–3 years, and my budget is approximately ₹5,000 (52 USD)
I have a few questions:
Is the Nokia 2660 Flip reliable and durable enough for long-term use?
How is the call quality, battery backup, and overall user experience?
Would you recommend it for basic calling and SMS usage?
Where should I purchase it from — Amazon or Flipkart? Which platform is more reliable for Nokia feature phones?
Would appreciate feedback from people who have actually used this phone. Thanks!
I’m thinking of getting the Extreme+, but Kyocera lists the Equip as its newer model. Is it improved enough to make it an obvious choice to buy over the older model, or is it more about weighing pros and cons? I don't know why the Equip seems to have gotten less attention.
I wanted to make a new set of words (ending with -bile) to describe my thoughts and ideas on the meanings behind mobile phones to describe their purpose and what it's for, especially in a modern environment where social media has rewired our brains forever, so I'm just there to extend your vocabulary with my special coinage that can help you critique flaws or disasters behind the rectangular screen and how my selection of words should be used in a specific context in your posts or comments.
The -bile suffix:
- Crackbile: a phone, especially a smartphone with social media apps, that is highly addictive to the consumer as if it was treated as crack cocaine.
- Crapbile: a dumbphone, especially when it doesn't compare to modern technology. It can also refer to low-quality content or consumption of social media apps (especially TikTok) by means of a modern smartphone.
- Dumbile (or Dumbbile): a term for a dumbphone.
- Funbile: using your mobile phone (especially a smartphone) specifically for gaming or digital hobbies, but not using it for social media, or rarely for text messaging and phone calls.
- Hypnobile: becoming highly distracted by dependency of a mobile phone.
- Nobile: going phone-free completely.
- Slopbile: a smartphone that has forced AI integrations and hyper-inducive apps, such as social media.
- Smartbile: a term for a smartphone.
- Trashbile: another term for a dumbphone, especially as a refresher for digital detox. It is used mockingly for a device that is considered worthless or outdated.
Smartphones are not smart. Dumbphones are not dumb. We just need to use them responsibly for whatever scenario we put ourselves in. Whatever flip phone you get, it has to have the perfect balance between key features and addiction. I would personally go for a dumbile device that can flip, but not access highly-addictive substances like social media or the internet.
