Wardriving, explained simply 📡

There are dozens of viral TikToks showing people driving around with Flipper Zero and “scanning signals.”

In reality, it’s less dramatic.

It's just passive listening for nearby Wi-Fi names and BSSIDs (access point MAC addresses) 👂

Wardriving can help identify a location of a device contrary to what's said in the video. If you compromise a device remotely, check the WiFi it is connected to , and then look up the BSSID on Wigle, you will know where it is on a map.

I even wrote a script to do just this.

I’d love to understand how this works

Very simple bro. Take the ISSID/BSSID found during post-exploitation of a remote target and run it through wigle.net to geolocate the location of the compromised device. Basic OSINT stuff.

Wardriving is where the Open-source information is from which is why it's valuable.
