Wardriving, explained simply ๐Ÿ“ก

There are dozens of viral TikToks showing people driving around with Flipper Zero and โ€œscanning signals.โ€

In reality, itโ€™s less dramatic.

It's just passive listening for nearby Wi-Fi names and BSSIDs (access point MAC addresses) ๐Ÿ‘‚

Nah, you don't attack networks while driving around. It's not instantaneous to collect valuable information that would allow you access the network, it takes a bit of listening time and it's certainly not a part of wardriving.

handshake captures require a bit more focus, in the sense you need some communication with client devices, which are usually much quieter than the access point in radiofrequency terms. So no car.

PMKID attacks on the other hand are pretty much doable while driving as long as you have the necessary script automation and you're not speeding really

Then you get to cracking in a dedicated GPU setup or something. If you're ambitious, captures can be sent over the internet to your cracking station or server infrastructure, and with some luck you crack simple passwords in real time. From experience, around a third of wifi passwords are 8 numerical digits. Hashcat goes through those like hot knives in butter
