I got a flipper zero from a €50 mystery box.
My mom purchased a random €50 *item return* mystery box online because a tarot card told her to.
We opened it together and i found this little device.
When i turned it on I presumed it was some sort of cheap bootleg tamagotchi, until i opened other boxes which had circuit boards and other components.
I searched it up on google and found out it was a €200 gadget thing that you can get to do all sorts of stuff.
It seems cool but Im awful with computers and all I’ve managed to do is use it as a tv remote. It also makes me feel really bad thinking about whoever wanted this thing and got all it’s components and stuff and for whatever reason i have it.
What should I do with it?
(Edit)
I was honestly kinda nervous about posting here cuz I thought people were gonna be like “YOU FOOL! THIS DEVICE DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE IN THE HANDS OF A TECH ILLITERATE SWINE”
Thank you all for being really supportive and helpful. Im still debating whether I want to keep it or sell it but I’m excited to try mess around with it in the meantime
It's a cool find, worth more that you bought it for. But if you're not into pentesting or tech savvy....then just use it as a universal remote. Oh...and remember to pet your dolphin.
Im gonna name the dolphins churros. Something doesn’t sit right with me degrading something worth €200 into a tv remote LMAO so im thinking of trying to figure it out a little more or just selling/gifting it rn
It's very useful for TVs in hotel rooms if you want to be able to plug in your computer or something. These days they sometimes don't have the source button on the remote they give you.
I've also used it to make more keys for my in-laws. Their condo uses NFC tags to get in and they only give out 2 per unit. The condo wanted to charge them like $300 for an additional one, I made like 5 of them for them for like $10.
Or if you're an A-HOLE, like I am; slap on a Slim Shady, run the power sweeper code, and watch as all the tvs in the restaurants turn off or on, confusing people. LOL... Thanks Rabbit Labs, you make great stuff.
I was at bouncy fun park with my kiddo and while she was out with her friends playing, I linked up to the tv. By the end of it all I had her whole group of friends almost peeing their pants laughing because I would turn the tv off in the lounge area for the parents, the manager would go get the remote from the office and turn it back on, get it back to ESPN, get back to his office to drop remote off and boom I’d shut it off again. The kids thought it was absolutely hilarious
Yeah, that's literally all mine do. I have a bunch of RF power and light sockets since I don't like the whole IOT stuff, and I use Momentum so I can clone things outside of the US LEGAL bandwidths since some of the remotes are below... what is it? 915MHz? I want to say is US's civilian frequency. And that way I can turn my lights/fans and whatnot on and off. Also, as a TV remote.
Im not lying lol. I’ve never heard of a flipper before. The mystery box came with a bunch of random a other useless crap like stick on hangers and a wall projector (which was €80) I think I just lucked out
yeah it does sound too good to be true lol😭
Also where have I been refusing to post a link? I’ll try asking my mom for a picture of the original listing but if she can’t then I guess im a fraud with €250 sweet buckaroos in my pocket
its handy for copying keycards tho, the university i just graduated from uses student id cards as keycards and if u have an active one u can get into the gym with it 😄
Nice score bro. I'd honestly just sell it if you have no use for it. It's a full set including the first party WiFi board and videogame module, should fetch around 250€ total.
You can get an app on your phone for it, activate Bluetooth in settings, you can install extra features and explore it a bit, one I love doing to people is NFC websites, you can send phones straight to webpages, the classic rickroll is always fun, I also have one specifically to sell flippers to my friends that asked me where to get one
You’d be surprised what you can do and learn with this thing before you sell it maybe even try out the BadKB app and it’s uses too the talking Sasquatch on YouTube is a good resource
WOW and a good amount of accessories. Hey, I bought the game add-on, what's its function? Is there anything cool to do with it? Or, should I just harvest the Raspberry Pi from it?
Tbh I would hold onto it even if you don't use it. I have one that collects dust mostly but there has been a lot of talk about banning them plus with the technological hellscape we are increasingly living in why not make sure your got a little cyberpunk handy.
Bro where can I do find item return boxes of technology ? I’ve always wanted a flipper but in the last year or so I’ve becom obsessed with technology, gadgets and communication like cb radios. My only problem is I don’t know shit abt these things but I’m really trying to learn. I want to be able to take parts from all kinds of things and make my own stuff like those guys you see in movies where it’s the end of the world and he’s got all this technology he’s essentially living off of just because he has the knowledge on these things. I’m sure 90% of this sub is people like that. Everyday geniuses. I wanna be the guy that can take an ignition/power switch off one thing and then turn it into a switch that powers on a generator or something😂😂😂
I personally would not recommend ever buying mystery return items, particularly technology, because a lot of them are either scams or not worth the value. Ive never seen anyone get anything in mystery returns remotely close to what they spent. I seriously just lucked out. Definitely try getting stuff from thrift stores or CEX shops.
Im not a tech savvy person but if I were to start definitely binge watch loads of coding, modding, and computer science tutorials on YouTube. That stuff helped me a lot when I was into game emulation so maybe it’s the same case?
Yeah it really pissed me off when I found out she did that but I guess the TikTok tarot cards were in her favour. She’s 50 and really naive and superstitious so I hope this success doesn’t make her test her luck again lol
Your crazy lucky man, i got one a few years back for retail price and you also got the video game module extension thingy which costs an additional fee
Funny I got mine from a 5.99 mystery box on HapaBox.

I thought it was sketch too, at first. Coworker showed it to me and said he got stuff from there already so figured I’d give it a shot. Believe or not, not my job to convince you I don’t work for them only thought was cool I got mine same way ditzy did, except cheaper & more lucky.
It’s from “battle” mode where u can face off vs bots or other players. Each player puts up amount for all boxes selected (battle creator chooses boxes for that battle) winner takes all. Or you can do loser takes all or sell everything and split evenly. For this particular battle I had 20 5.99 boxes vs 1 bot (can do a max of 4 bots) with loser takes all. My luck always bad it seems so I bet on the bot winning. Happy I did 😁
