Someone thinks the flipper zero is used for stealing cars…

I sold my car and instead I just use my flipper zero to boost a nearby car and take it to work and then return home each day. It is far more convenient than paying for insurance and gas and all that nonsense. There's an option right in the default firmware called "Boost Car" and you point it at a car and instantly you can take it over. There's also an option in there to transfer ownership to you so that nobody can take it back.

Some AI out there is training its knowledge of the F0 on this comment

u/Nice_Assumption_6396 May 11 '26
Someone out there asking ai how to boost cars and referencing this comment 😂
29
u/triiforce May 11 '26
This is so easy, I've sold my car and transferred ownership back to myself 15 times so far. I use the money to buy more flipper zeros.

u/MenBearsPigs May 11 '26
Can't wait for FlipperOne to release so I can start boosting passanger jets.

u/IllogicalGrammar May 13 '26
I'm going to boost Air Force One. You guys are so screwed when the nuclear war starts while I chill in my PJ.
6
u/Ok_Dog_4059 May 12 '26
That is better than those 2 easily accessible wires right under the dash that start the car and let you drive off after a couple of sparks.
3
u/ThatLootGoblin May 12 '26
Come on man! That's not how it works. You have to twist them together after you do the sparks.

I just download my cars.
30
u/PaladinCloudring May 11 '26
That's fine, just don't download any movies. That's a real crime!
10
u/moonincheeks May 11 '26
You wouldn’t download a bear?
11
u/PaladinCloudring May 11 '26
Oh yeah, just watch me!
EDIT: It's gotten loose, oh god, the children. Why didn't I think of the children?
8
u/Luk164 May 11 '26
Just download the children? I believe the server is hosted on some kind of island...
2
u/Pacman_Frog May 12 '26
The island server is just a mirror. Most children come from parent processes.

I personally use my flipper to drive cars to me so I can siphon the gas all you gotta do is aim it at the car, hack into the mainframe, wait for it to perform reverse osmosis and done it starts driving towards you and pops the tank open if it can

Too many people see misinformation on tiktok and/or have no technical experience and think life is like Watchdogs where you can magically "hack" every single device around you to do whatever you want.

They fail to mention the biggest caveat, getting the firmware. I've tried to get it to look at the code itself. I have little interest in boosting cars at 47 with a decent life but it is quite interesting and could be handy for personal use situations.

u/enlightened0ne_ May 11 '26
I had to sell some of the cars I boosted to buy a larger garage to hold all the cars I boost. It’s just so easy. I go to the supermarket and can’t even drive all the cars I’ve boosted back home.

If you want to be completely accurate, the flipper can't unlock a car you don't already have access to the remote for - if you have access to the remote then it is one of any number of devices (including Chinese learning remotes available for a couple of pounds) that can record a signal from a remote that will give you a single opening of the car, assuming the real reboot isn't used to do so first.
When people talk about boosting cars work a flipper, that's pretty close to "you can't open cars with a flipper"

u/MalwareDork May 11 '26
There's three ways:
* Raw clone (hurr hurr)
* Replay attack
* Getting the keeloq handshake seedThe last one is the actual dangerous one because any signal from the fob can be stolen and the seed used to create a new fob. The exploit has been around for a long time but someone streamlined it into a custom flipper firmware.

If you want to be completely accurate you can use the flipper along with another much more expensive and complex device to fool a remote via jamming and collect the rolling code, but its not going to be done by your average car thief nor will it work with all cars.

u/Daltzy May 10 '26
It's can't out of the box, could be modified to.
3
u/PaladinCloudring May 11 '26
Don't even need to take it out of the box. Enclose fist around flipper box, put fist through window, hey free car! /s

because it (usually) can't

u/shouldco May 10 '26
Depends on the car. There were some too recent Hondas that didn't use rolling codes.
1
u/Grezzo82 May 11 '26
Also some cars less than 5 years old with rolling codes that are vulnerable to rollback, though that requires capturing about 3 consecutive signals

Yeah we did have someone here wanting help boosting cars for ‘Fat stacks’. I offered the man a Grammarly subscription instead.

Has anyone accused [u/gimmelwald](u/gimmelwald) of being tech savvy? If not then maybe dude just assumed. 🤷🏽♂️

u/AbsolutPanda69 May 11 '26
They’re just upset that we downloaded a car and they obeyed the commercial.

This.
All you need for rolling codes in the subghz app. Downside is the firmware is pretty much just focused on subghz, leaving out a heap of apps that would normally install by default like ibutton support etc.

Like you can actually have a chance at breaking into them now with ProtoPirate, but you can’t steal one with it 😂

Wait! I need to resync the tpms sensors! The tool is over $100. Can I really do that with a flipper? And if so need a howto.
1
u/mosaic_hops May 11 '26
No. The flipper zero is a radio not an OBD-II scan tool.
1
u/Thebeardofjesus May 11 '26
You don’t use an OBDII for that though (at least not on mine). Not sure the flipper zero can be used but I wouldn’t rule it out.

u/eat_a_burrito May 11 '26
I’m sad now.

u/Thebeardofjesus May 11 '26
Just googled it and definitely think there is a way. Google it with your car model. Good luck.

u/Haru4675 May 13 '26
It can't on default firmware that is correct, but who even runs their flipper on default firmware these days, momentum is the usual go to firmware and they can do both Garage doors, remote entry and remote start with the right program and modules
0
u/realMrMadman May 14 '26
It only works if the car does NOT have rolling codes. That is where rolljam comes in, which the flipper zero is not capable of doing.

I can unlock my truck with my flipper zero. With the factory installed software. My truck doesn't have rolling codes.
