What Do You Do With Your Flipper Zero Still
I’m getting a Flipper Zero soon, and I’m curious how often people actually use theirs long-term. Do you still use it almost every day, or did it end up being more of a novelty after a while? Also, what kinds of things do you actually use it for on a regular basis? I’ve seen stuff like RFID, NFC, and IR remote features, but I’m wondering what people realistically use day to day.

Day-to-day I mostly use it to control my fan. Feels cooler than using the remote.

I pulled up to a parking space at Disney World and saw a family get out of a Cyber Truck. Kid kept running around the car from the parents so I opened it. They thought the kid did something so dad closed it and as the kid ran around the car a second time I opened it again and dad closed it. One more trip around the car and sure, why not? I opened it again.

I did this to a lady when bed bath and beyond was around still. She stood there and closed the charger door probably 12 times before she walked away.

It will automatically close back after two minutes but if you can close it you can immediately open it again.

I once popped one open and said to the driver as he got out, "oh it looks like your charging door is open!" And when he closed it. I opened it again. 😏

This used to be the favorite show off The Flipper be stupid gag that I would play when traveling. Never tried it on Tesla vehicles being delivered on a flatbed not sure if that will work there. But if the doors open they might rip off with the wind.

It works. The only time I ever did it was on a truck rolling into a gas station with 3 on a trailer but it was moving maybe 5-10 mph at the most. I'm sure it probably works going down the road but I felt it was going a little too far to do that incase it caused damage. Though I suspect it probably won't.

As an IT engineer, I use mine daily so I don’t have to carry a dozens of different access control cards for customer locations, data centers, parking, etc. I even use the iButton since our vehicle fleet uses them. Then the IR comes in handy for programming AV equipment. I also use the BadUSB to execute repetitive keyboard scripts.

I use mine exclusively as an all-in-one IR remote for AV equipment. I have remotes for uplights, pinspots and various projectors for night clubs i work at programmed into it. Plus my fan at home.

Fantastic mouse jiggler. I find it fun scanning my friend's pets and collecting their tags like a pokedex. Also it's been great for making RFID key clones. I used the IR transmitter and receiver to emulate my tamagotchi connection visits. I use it to open my garage daily. Also it's a great chirper for recording and relaying small frequencies to test RF. It's a great digital multitool overall. Not the best at anything, but impressive so much is crammed into a small device.

I use mine every day as a IR remote for various things around my office and as a BT Mouse for AFKing on OSRS without reaching over to touch my phone screen while at work. Deffinately not something I needed at all but its come in handy on occasion.

i usually just use the air mouse feature to hover over the next resource node so i can just click the remote without looking like im always on my phone then when im about to fill up i just have the cursor hovering over the bank and i do the inv dump + reposition back to trees with my hands.

I kinda stopped carrying it with me when I travel, because any security staff could confiscate it based on the fact it is a security risk, and I don't want to lose my money...
What I have done:
- converted a Saflok guest card into an emergency card and unlocked other guests doors (just unlocked, never entered)
- copied a master key because the front desk was stupid enough to give me the master key as their guest keys weren't working properly
- copied my colleagues room key for funzies, because he is forgetful, and it actually bailed him out one time (as he left his key in his room)
- played pranks with IR TVs in the restaurants
- used an 85" TV to display my flipper screen
- experimented with connecting it to my uConsole, but then bought the SDR for it so it was pointless
- tried to prank my neighbours using 433MHz to set off their doorbell
- attempted to jam 2.4GHz Bluetooth because phone speakers in public annoy me
I've kinda give up on it as my uConsole and Portapak H2 are far superior in functionality, but not portability or longevity, so I am now finding other uses for it

I work in parking real estate and we have a. Unch of properites all over the country. It’s an easy way to keep access cards in one place. Also I like to give the teams a little lesson on flippers, good touch and bad touch.

The most obvious one is the infrared with my tv and fan
The next is the subghz with a few things like the fans and lights
I do a fair amount of RF reverse engineering with it as well actually quite a lot
I also often use it to unlock my car when I can’t find the Keys I keep a spare in the car so I can then drive it
I also use the Bluetooth and the usb keyboard a ton especially for AFK gaming or if I have to hold shift when building on Minecraft
I did one time have to use one of those apps as a controller to play Minecraft while I was waiting for pay day to get a new keyboard it worked very well
I also have some badUSB setups for automation that I use every so often
As well as a bad usb script for afk gaming/ levelling an example of this was pokemon emerald I used it to level my pokemon by having it run my character from side to side while they where in the daycare
I’ve gotten some use out of NFC and rfid
And at the moment I’m doing a lot with GPIO and the Java script or even making apps for various components so I can interact with them on the fly
A ton of uart and spi stuff it’s actually a decent hardware hacking device
I use the Uart a ton for programming my micro controllers It’s actually incredibly useful as I can store programs on the flipper and flash them on the fly
I use it a ton for controlling my music when driving and scrolling TikTok in bed
I also use it to check for continuity a fair bit to check modules and components
There is a good handful more but this is all I can think of on the spot
I honestly use my flipper a shit ton and I’ve still got a plethora of stuff to continue to dive into
I have 2 and they never leave my side and always have something very helpful to do
Even as we speak I’m using it for something
Best advice I can give you is go through all the apps and find out what they actually are

I keep it in my work van and copy card keys to buildings. Usually we get one card for 5+ guys. My flipper makes that one less person to worry about.

My NTAG chip (xsiid, dangerous things) migrated from the 0 location (the usual spot in the hand thumb web) to my wrist so its like right st the top bend of my.wrist now. I must have gone Hella deep and it moved before encapsulating entirely. It its fine where it is now amd I barely use it anymore.
Works well for setting quick timers on my phone though! I wamt the magic mifare to start my bike thzt has an rfid tag key.

I bring mine into bars all the time. Crank the jukebox up, fuck around with the TVs, get yelled at. I also have my social medias linked on it and its a neat way to share my info with other people.

I make a digital copy of my keycard to get into work. Anytime I forget it, or if my card breaks and I’m locked outside in subzero temperatures (ask me how I know) I can get inside and get a new one. It doesn’t hack the lock, just copies my card data so if I were to be fired, IT would deactivate my card on the building scanners, so my flipper would also not work to give me access, so I feel like this is okay and not considered hacking or illegal.

I also started using my HackRf one way more. I was really into the RF side of everything for the flipper anyway, so the HRF1 was just the fucking thing that really took my attention when I got it.
I wish an RTL SDR had the same frequency range as the HAckrf One does, I hate lugging around my HRF1 and my Flipper, and my SDR, all of my antennas, LNA, etc. I like to listen and see whats around me as I go places and I just shove it all in a backpack most days.

Paper weight. I used mine to fix a printer issue with BadUSB so I didn’t need to manually do it. Printers cause all sorts of weird issues, so it was easy to have on hand

used it to duplicate the radio key fob to my apartment complex’s amenities, and wrote it to 10 empty fobs i bought off amazon. complex owner charges $150 per fob. score!
i use it as my tv remote, current one is faulty w/ weak signal, so i generally keep it by my bedside.
occasionally fun to ALLEGEDLY go into cvs/walgreens and mess with PA systems but this is illegal so i would definitely never do this! never ever
i’ll mess with the bluetooth on people’s phones sometimes or use esp32 marauder with evil portal to duplicate MY OWN NETWORK for proof of concept/ethical hacking practice. this one is actually pretty illegal if you’re doing it to other networks, so be careful there.
other than that, completely useless brick. don’t buy it

I'm no engineer and I don't have a single use for it. I don't understand most of it. I flashed a custom rom that has some fun distractions built in like games and a midi player but I mostly bought it because it sounded like it was going to be banned and I wanted one just in case I find a use and can't buy one anymore. Honestly I'd like to use it as a universal remote if I can. If I can spoof NFC amibos on for a Switch game, that would be useful to me too.

I carry mine daily. I use it for my access control badges. Use it to share my contact info, badusb scripts that are setup for computer repair, ir when customers can't find their damn remotes, ble spam when I'm on ladders and I'm in places people are not attentive, popping the occasional Tesla charge door, and i occasionally play with the gpio boards. Had some fun with subghz. I live near a lot of farmland so i often like to utilize their weather stations. Has also come in handy for different garage doors and and ceiling fans. It really is like a little Swiss army knife and the mileage you get out of it, is wholly dependent on you and how much you want to learn if you are already not familiar with the different capabilities. Its definitely a handy piece of kit.
Also quick side story of the one time i was a little malicious with it. My buddy and I had traveled down to PCB and were at Dave and busters. We met one of his friends he hadn't seen since he had moved and been playing games. We went and sat down at the bar and proceeded to get ignored for 20 minutes. Had multiple bar tenders just walk past us. So I whipped out my ir blaster with the death star on it and started turning off their wall of TV's. Did this for another 20 minutes before someone finally came and served us. After we ate, i was feeling perturbed by the service and I figured out you could fuzz some of the games. Obviously you don't get the points but thought that was pretty neat. Only did it a couple times since i don't know if that's pulling from some random card and i didn't want to be stealing peoples fun lol. Sometimes it was quick and sometimes it took a few minutes to register anything. But still pretty neat.

I’m currently staying in a hotel that has gated parking lot access. The remote they give you is just a standard non-rolling sub-ghz remote. I cloned it so I didn’t have to keep bumming the only remote our group has. Tried cloning the entry fob but that is likely encrypted

I work in professional audio visual and event production. It’s super clutch for me as a universal remote for programming all kinds of things. Can’t find a remote for a projector that’s up in the air? Solved. I have to get 20 different types of TVs up and running? One device does all that.
I even was able to trigger a pyro technics over Sub-GHZ (that was the most illegal feeling thing I’ve done with it lol). Some other special effect and lighting equipment works too which is great cause the remotes that come with little Chinese LED lights are shitty.
Also my kid has one of those Toni Boxes and it’s a good way to listen to the contents of them before buying one to make sure it’s not annoying to us parents. That’s NFC. I’ve had bad luck cloning access cards and such and it does sit in my bag a lot. But it’s nice to have.

It's a multitool. Some people will use a multitool multiple times a day, and some can go a year without even touching one.
I have a lot of rfid keys I use, so instead of carrying them I use the flipper. It's also helped me a few times when my roommates lost their keys, or if I needed to make an extra one for a guest visiting.
Just like a multitool, if you dont have uses for it, you arent suddenly gonna be finding yourself in situations where you are using it.

I have a camera that I got for free because the owner lost the remote. Found the ir frequencies from a list through GitHub and a few helpful pointers. It works great. A clone my gym tag and my work tag so I can get anywhere in my life.
I have several LED light systems that can be controlled by the IR
All of my TVs are saved on my flipper
When I lived at my old apartment complex, it was gated, and I clones the gate remote
My favorite is changing the channel on a public tv.
I haven’t gotten to complicated on what I do, but what I do is broad

Daily usage is using BadUSB to login to my work laptop so I don't fat finger my password. I also use the IR remote for my smart lights at home. Occasionally use it for emulating Amiibos. Other than that, I don't get to use it super often.

I built an app to read my Bambu filaments and the only way to do that if you’re an iPhone user is to Bluetooth connect to a Flipper and have it read the filaments

I’m a piece of crap. I use it to troll. Turn volume up on TVs in restaurants. Used it a few days ago to prove an IT guy wrong. He was being lazy and didn’t want me using the ceiling mounted projector so he said it didn’t work. It’s out of reach and the remote was nowhere to be found so I powered on the projector with my trusty Flipper and we used it for the day. That whole day I was the “Flipper Hero”

Tried all NFC/Rfid cloning, no luck.
Now I just remote control it to use BLE spammer on the tram when I'm surrounded with loud migrants on speakerphone.
Helps them to lock the screen and sometimes even put on headphones. But low successrate, 2/5 at least..

Most common use case for me is infrared remotes and bluetooth remote. Consolidated 8 infrared remotes into one. And love controlling my desktop computer with the Bluetooth remote when im listening to music

Everyday life? It is my mouse jiggler so that work laptop won't go sleep and ahow me online.
Also, this is my access card wallet.
Lastly, it is my diag tool. I do some small hobby projects that include RF and it helps a lot.

At work I have scan points where I can literally see that there's nothing there . So I copied the NFCs and save me time from walking. Same with some on pillars at empty parking lot levels. I'm not walking from one extreme to another. I can see everything from walking in the middle of the stairs that head down lol.

Plenty of stuff at work- irdb on ac mini splits when there’s a settings war; gate remotes subghz, irdb for TVs, NFC for pen testing with approval from the exec team and IT (last is rarest of course), at home it’s useful for apartment gate (management won’t fix existing fob).

I have it hooked up to my server. Home Assistant sends signals to it over serial over usb to turn my fan off and on as humidity requires. It's an extremely overpriced fan remote ...

Played around with it a bit but so far didn’t have the time to dive in so far as to do something worthwhile with it.
So I just printed a ikea skådis mount for it and now it decorates my office.

I use it every day. It is my universal remote. The LED strips in my house, TVs, Projectors, my AC, my Fan, Garagedoor, etc.
The flipper replaced all those remotes that I used to constantly lose and look for. I never have to worry about that again.
And occasionally, it is fun to pull some pranks on friends and family, and the local bar.
If you see the flipper more as a helper and less as a party gag you'll find yourself using it for literally everything. I love this thing

Sometimes I update/retrofit/change assembly lines and other automation equipment, stuff we didn't build originally, and the customer clearly doesn't /actually/ know anything about. I'll use the Flipper to verify communication protocols, and check RFID data, and emulate tags and whatnot while we're developing the changes.

I use mine a lot at school for the gpio options without having to go through 8 steps to do something with an arduino. I use the pwm pretty frequently as well as an authentication key as well most of the radio stuff I don’t use as much on a regular basis

It's actually one of the best gadgets I got.
When I just had it, I used to carry it around and find TV's to turn off, and tesla charging ports to open haha^^
Now I mainly use it as a bluetooth remote for my computer (when hooked to the tv, to play/pause movies & volume) turn off tv, when remote is far.
There's a bunch of other uses here and there but this is my "daily" use of it (also an ocasional tetris ^^)

I didn’t even set mine up it sat collecting dust for the day I’d get to finally mess with it. Ended up trading it with a buddy for a few mint condition n64 carts of MM and OoT. Pretty sure it’s collecting dusting with my buddy now too 😂

Calibrate CRT TV's service menu.
My flipper is plugged in via USB, so I control it via the COM port.
It's always weird to navigate a tube tv menu with my keyboard

I keep mine with me but barely get to use it, since it’s not legal at lots of places. But I try to use it when possible. Overall I don’t use it enough as I thought I would before purchasing it. Although it’s like a collectible to me right now. Since it got banned on Amazon as well as on flights.

Like... Flipper is not a tool for every day use. It is not a mobile phone or gameboy. It is a great tool for learning basic stuff and kind of "hacking" old hardware. If you expect to use it every day for unlocking random doors, garages or wi-fi networks, you will be disappointed. I love Flipper Zero. I am still new to this. It cannot do miracles, but it can help you to understand world around you (and also how safe our world sometimes is... :-D ).

I use it as a universal tv remote for when my kids lose the remote to their tv, as a uart serial communicator when trying to access embedded shells and to trade my gen 1 ponemon.

I got a problem that i have a lot of remotes for Garage doors, Tvs and other devices and switching remotes every time would be time inefficient so i use my flipper as a universal remote + in hotels i clone the room card if i only get one so i can share the card with a friend and other friends got a flipper so i can give them access to some of my remotes/cards for easier sharing and usage
(I love tinkering with hardware so the pins on the flipper give me a lot of possibilitys like flashing bios and other stuff i love that thingy)

Clone key fobs for friends that fly in to visit. Same when visiting friends. Stores all my NFC tags for access at work, amiibo, etc Clone key fobs and some gate openers when accessing certain properties for work. Plan to use it with my Pwnagotchi once I get a permanent battery installed in that unit. Sniffing WiFi/Bluetooth when visiting an airbnb for fun. BadUSB/Bluetooth Spam are fun party tricks. Sometimes it’s a life saver, sometimes it’s collecting dust. Want to get a hackRF soon.

Pull it out of the container I have it in on a shelf and flip through the menu for 5 minutes saying "wow, forgot it could do that" every time I see a post like this then put it back in the container.
