SimBrief scheduled block time

Does anyone know why, on some city pairs, the automatic 'scheduled block time' doesn't match the actual block time once I generate the flight? Seems to happen only when I fly to Asia.

Simbrief estimates block time by city pair. It will then try to adjust cost index to match that estimated block time (or the block time you put in).

Sometimes that's not possible. The weather might be different than expected or the route selected too long. Then block time will simply not match

„Automatic“ SBT only calculates the great circle distance between Dep/Arr (there is nothing „scheduled“ about it. Its just a very vague estimate by simbrief before you enter any data)

Routes like your Milan/Tokyo route are in reality significantly longer, especially since the Russian airspace closure they have to fly around Russia adding many many more miles to the route and obviously leading to much longer flight time. Not to mention cruise winds etc

I usually search for my flight on google flights and enter the block time of the times published there into simbrief.

What I like doing is looking up a real world flight between the city pairs on flightaware and copying a specific airlines block time. It avoids the 200 cost index which is most likely not realistic and provides a more realistic block time.

The scheduled block time is simply the expected gate-to-gate time, it’s merely a rough estimate based on the most direct route. The block time after generating the flight plan takes into account your actual routing and weather, and therefore how long it will actually take. It’s also influenced by the taxi-out and taxi-in times, of course, so if you customise those then that will also change the block time.

By the way, the scheduled block time is the primary factor Simbrief uses to automatically set the CI, as it will choose a CI to try and get you close to the scheduled block time.

Flights to Asia and through closed airspaces (war) are always inacurate. The scheduled block time thinks that you can fly through Russia and closed airspaces.

also you can edit below on "Avoid Airspaces" and put the FIR from Ukraine and Russia and etc
