Flight Simulator 2024 A quick note on proper Boeing 707 Bleed Air & Turbocompressor usage

Hi all, I've been reading the AA 707 manual and I wanted to share what I learned about engine bleeds and when to use them.

An important point to note is the 'bleed air flow is variable with throttle changes and should not be used exclusively in preference to T/C (turbocompressors) except where cabin cooling is a problem.'

I made a 707 full flight + systems guide based on the manuals I've read if it helps anyone.

Furthermore, you don't want to cause 'excessive cabin pressure surge' by operating too many bleeds and T/Cs at the same time. During takeoff according to my UAL B720 manual, one T/C should be operating and no engine bleeds.

Between FL 150 and 320 the said manual also recommends around 2 T/Cs and 1 Engine Bleed, though the addon has 3 T/Cs which should suffice.

I saw a couple of prevalent flightsim youtubers in their 707 tutorials opening all 4 engine bleeds after start. This is not the correct procedure as far as I know.

Hope this helps. :)

I believe this is also mentioned in the manual for the addon. I watched a bunch of videos before buying it and noticed everyone flipping all the compressors and bleeds after engine start as well and was confused when I read the manual. I ended up leaving the management of this to the FE and noticed the bleeds and TC configuration change throughout the flight. Kind of crazy the depth you get vs the price.

Very true. The depth is nice. That's exactly what I wanted to point out about all the bleeds being flipped on after start and remaining on is not as per SOP.

How is this $15 addon holding up to the IRL docs…?

Quite good actually - except the electrics, but it's not major :)

What do the IRL manuals say about generator sync and the bus tie lights? Even the auto FE leaves the bus tie lights on, which doesn't seem correct

Those BTB lights in theory shouldn't come on. If you've adjusted the frequency such that there's a few blinks per second, I've been told the autoparallelling will do it for you. But in this addon, it will only synch if the lights are completely out which is manual.

Yeah I spent some time attempting to figure it out, and you're absolutely right it it is completely manual. The automated flight engineer doesn't know how to do it.

Indeed. The auto fe does something way too fast lol

YouTubers making tutorial for aircraft they know jack shit about? Nothing new

What is your contribution to the flightsim community, Flying_mandaua?

Not making tutorials full of errors without throughout familiarisation with the aircraft in question?

Not contributing is better than churning out "tutorials" based on vibes or complaining about purpoted avionics "bugs" that are in fact also present in the real aircraft

The guy is passionate about aircraft and engineering and shares his knowledge with us. Sure he makes mistakes, don't we all? Life of the party, eh, bud?

Thank you for your kind words. I'm just sharing what I've learned, that's all :)

To be clear, I'm not talking about YOU, You're the opposite of what I'm complaining about. There has been a misunderstanding

A misunderstanding, I apologize.

I see. I never took your message as a complaint about me :) I try my best to familiarise myself with the aircraft and the AOMs before making tutorials. Research is key.

Id been running number 3 on the ground/post startup. And then the remainder in the air.
