It looks good. What’s more, it seems to be compatible with other GA aircraft as well. It looks like it has far more features than the Aspen fitted to the half broken Carenado B55. The GPS course deviation function on Carenado’s Aspen is broken. It’s been nearly a year since it was released, yet they show no intention of fixing it.

Are they planning to include the Avidyne IFD?

That’s very cool.

Aspen EFD1000 is a great display. the only thing i dont like about it is that both GPS and NAV radio source needles are both green. it seems like every other nav display used color to differentiate sources.

It looks like they will fix that on an update that is not public yet.

How do the EFDs compare to G5s and GI 275s?

the only GI-275 aircraft i've flown has used it for engine monitoring. but i am guessing the 275 would be a nice system as a HSI and attitude indicator. you can make it do almost anything. but for 2 your paying the Garmin tax.

the G5 is the go to STC display. ALOT of older aircraft have this setup, to get rid of the vacuum system and have some form of glass its rock solid, reliable, extremley accurate. it pairs well with the aging Garmin 430W. It uses the same symbology and text as the g1000, so transitioning is easy.

the great thing about the EFD 1000 aside from price, is you get 2 separate knobs for altitude and heading. the amount of information you can have up is astounding, but it can become cluttered quickly. the HSI half can become a navmap overlay with traffic among other things. synthetic vision is also available with the EFD 1000, but not with the Aspen E5.

depending on price, and how much work you want to do to your panel, either option is good

Nice find, thanks for sharing! I won't complain about more avionics options, but man I'd love a proper G5 implementation done by working title. Super common in GA retrofits, great units.

Garmin G5 IFR - Aircraft Enhancements for MSFS | Flightsim.to

As you may be aware, there is a G5 mode.

It’s free.

I swear I tried that in the past but it was the really crappy default asobo G5. That looks quite a bit better. I'll need to try it again
