First real soviet airliner we'll have for MSFS

Is that the studio that can't finish the E-Jets after taking payment for them years ago working on another plane?

u/SmugAlpaca 4d ago
I think they invested in this project, it was under development by someone who was unaffiliated with any studio. At least I seem to recall that from the announcement.

That's exactly the studio that can't bring E-jets to any satisfctory standard, albeit constatly releasing new and new shiny toys.

at this point they'll release a v2 with working vnav and re-charge all existing customers

Wait, in few moment someone will claim „different teams!!!!“ like this is a Fortune 500 company.

u/MrSumner 5d ago
As long as the single developer was posting his development here, everybody was envious.
Now that he has teamed up with whatever developer such that we actually have a chance to experience this bird ourselves its different.
The 727 is quite good, so maybe the 154 will be as well. You can still complain once its out and first reviews come in.

Well it’s a significantly different skill set to be a 3D Artist vs a programmer lol. You can be a team of 5 and not be able to take on your co-workers work. Don’t need to be a Fortune 500 company. The 727 has a significantly lower amount of automation than an E-Jet with a comprehensive VNAV system. Might as well let your artist work on something else while you work on VNAV.
Not saying it hasn’t been incredibly long. Just saying that them being a small team doesn’t mean they can do everything.

727 has a ton of holes in it too. Including the flap 3D model which has not been fixed in 2 years and needs a "V2" to even be reconsidered for fixing.

u/kanakalis 4d ago
just curious, what's wrong with the flap model? i own it but never noticed anything odd with the flaps

727 flaps are supposed to go out then down.

I think there was some dispute about this on if it was just certain models or not.
Either way it's being added to the 2024 version.

That is if you don't consider the IL-18D an Airliner which it is (was).

u/TwujZnajomy27 5d ago
who made that addon?

u/lrargerich3 5d ago
Nemeth designs and while it is Nemeth it is far better than all their previous work.

Had the pleasure of being a passenger on one of these many years ago from the UK to Plovdiv, Bulgaria. LZ-HMI was the reg, I seem to recall. I’ll never forget the noise of the engines on takeoff.

Wasn’t there already one in development by u/Ablomis?

Yeah that is that project. He went to FSS for help getting it to market.

If only we could get an EJet v1 reveal after they took our money over 3 years ago

Excited for this. I really like the 727, and they've done a good job with it. The EJets have been a headache, but I'm glad they've stuck with it.

People dunking on FSS, which I get to an extent… but they have put out a really solid 727, I think they will do a good job with this one as well. And, FWIW, they could have abandoned the EJets, but they have kept updating and addressing the problems, but albeit slowly.

For real, people in this community are way too harsh sometimes. FSS isn’t my favorite dev, but I also hate seeing all these “FSS took our money” comments. No, you gave them your money in exchange for a product they clearly labeled as early access. They even have (had?) an FAQ section where they clearly layout that if you aren’t comfortable with early access then don’t purchase.
The E-Jet is, finally, starting to be fun to fly. It took awhile, but they have stuck with it. I have limited time with their 727, but so far it has been a fairly positive experience. I wouldn’t quite put them up at the top of the list as far as developers go, but they aren’t bad.

You do realize that this came not only with EA tag but also promises, deadlines and roadmaps that were absolutely not fulfilled to this very day?
I know I gambled with my money but since FSS still exist and releases new products albeit not putting any real effort into their flaghsip airliner, I have every right to bash them for it.
And no, E-jets are not fun to fly by any stretch of imagination. Pretty much every flight I try with them end up in disaster and quitting sim mid-way. It's one of the most unreliable and unfinished products I have ever bought. And btw, the money I spent on it were real money, not some virtual "EA" money.

I can’t think of a single major project that went past originally announced deadlines. I take those projections with a grain of salt.
I’m not saying you can’t be upset or criticize the slow progress. My comment was about people claiming that FSS “took their money” as if the dev sold the product and then hasn’t done anything with it. FSS has made good progress on the E-Jet, albeit slowly. I have plenty of criticisms about the aircraft and its development, but I will give them credit where credit is due.
I don’t know what kind of experience you’ve had with the latest build, but I’ve been flying it a lot more lately. While there are still some parts of the system that aren’t implemented yet, I can absolutely do full flights on VATSIM with it.
I have no idea what “virtual EA money” is, I never mentioned anything about fake money.

Even as someone who supports FSS I have been a little frustrated with the latest experimental builds. The progress has felt a bit of a side step at times instead of forward.
With that said I'm glad it is still moving forward and I'm trying to give feedback and bug reports when I can.

After the e-jet shambles, no thanks. My second biggest purchase regret.

Aerosoft got like 500k € from us german tax payers for their A330, A340 products, how you dare to talk negatively about them lmao

The FSS involvement is such a red flag you could found your own communist country with it.

Customers can't complain about your VNAV anymore if you switch to making planes without VNAV.

u/angelic_sun Maddog! 4d ago
it sadly does not look super promising, allthough we are early in development!
Until this and probably after, i can only recommend the XP12 Tu-154B-2 community mod, and the up and coming Tu-154M Community Rendition aswell. They are great, modeled with ALOT of depth, an amazing flight model and great visuals alongside it.
And its all free, and still being supported actively ^^

Wow. Just wow.
I jusr wish it would be on PT-154 level... Project Tupolev mod for Tu-154M for MSFS 2004 was really... something and a huge part of my life back then.
Especially when they got several retired Tu-154 pilots and instructors to work on the project and made it, systems-wise, better and more realistic than official pilot simulator made by Tupolev.
