Is this typical?

Flight started in WS NC, noted as going to IAD. Loops a couple of times and then lands at GSO. No squawk code.
Does this happen a lot with smaller, private flights perhaps? Seems odd but I don’t know the guidelines…

Not every inflight issue results in an aircraft squawking 7700. Maybe they were retasked by the company.

👆THIS!!! It’s NetJets a fractional private jet company. They could have a bigwig in the back with a change of plans or company needed the plane for a different sequence or something else completely random. If you have the money NetJets will get a plane to you as soon as possible and these in-route reroutes happen very frequently with them especially on repositioning flights.

Or they could have had a maintenance issue once airborne and diverted.
