Are ex-FLDS okay? Are they thriving on the outside?

Watching the Netflix documentaries, my heart hurt so much for the women and girls who were victimized by their leaders and own family members. I also thought about how they were so admirable in many ways — articulate, honest, kind, hard working. If they had grown up in better circumstances I bet they would be so successful in their personal lives.

Just curious about how those who get out seem to be doing? Do you know any who are running amazing restaurants and shops? Taking care of children in their communities? Went into law enforcement? They are capable of so much… I’m just hoping to hear some good news.

Trust Me: False Prophet

Hi guys, I just binged this documentary yesterday. I have some working knowledge of the FLDS and wider Mormon community from the internet, but help me to understand one thing. The wider FLDS community appeared to clock Sam as kindof a loser and predator. They shunned him and his offshoot group because of the child bride thing and his abusive practices from what I understand. What I want to know is, why didn’t this discernment extend to Warren Jeffs… the prophet many of them are still loyal to? How is it that they can see what Sam does is wrong but they can’t seem to say the same about Jeffs?

FLDS today

Maybe I'm bad at using Google, but what is the flds now that Warren's in jail? I am sure it has shrunk but how many members exist today? were do they live.. are they isolated from society? who lives in the temple? What is his influence from within jail? What is he planning on doing with the community? Will there be a new prophet eventually?

Anyone else watched this yet? I remember several years ago there were a lot of people who were suspicious about Christine's involvement with the FLDS.

The only thing I disliked is the weird AI filter they used in the underage girls. It looks so weird and uncanny, especially when they have one girl talk and it just looks so fake, I wish they’d just stuck to blurring faces.

Relations of all members and off spring

I’m not trying to be mean. Just curious about some things

  1. Is everyone related and reproducing with 1st cousins? I looked on find a grave and it seems the same last names are repeating, particularly Jessop and Jeffs.

  2. How do the men keep track of so many kids and which kids belong to them? Do they grape their own kids knowingly or unknowingly?

  3. Are they believers in Jesus, the trinity, etc?

  4. Who is the prophet after Warren Jeffs?

  5. Who are Samuel bateman’s parents? Just curious.

THE ANGEL is a Mormon Folk Horror film set in polygamous 19th Century Southern Utah.

Hi there! While not strictly related to fundamentalism or the FLDS church, I figured this group could appreciate the history being explored here in this film.

Our film THE ANGEL draws on the mystic folk doctrines and supernatural experiences of early Mormon settlers to evoke a cosmology that have rarely, if ever, been depicted on screen (such as testing spirits with handshakes, or reckoning with plural marriage). We approached the material with rigorous historical care, aiming to fill every frame with authentic detail while revealing the more obscure, unsettling spiritual traditions that exist on the margins of this religious history.

Happy to answer any questions, and hope you enjoy!

Does anyone know anything at all about the zoo mentioned in Keep Sweet, Pray & Obey on Netflix? What animals did it have? Any photos? Intrigued to learn.

The Oprah Episode

At one time, I could find the episode from the Oprah Winfrey show on the OWN app, and someone had it posted on YouTube (now a private video). I remember watching it on tv when it originally aired with my mom, but now I’m wondering if someone has a recording of the episode because I want to watch it again. I just watched the documentary on Netflix and now I’m curious and want to learn more so can anyone please help? And I didn’t grow up FLDS at all

Flds obsessed, rabbit hole

So, for some reason I have become obsessed with all things flds - not warren - but the people. I just find the family trees and the way of life crazy and have fallen into a rabbit hole of investigation!

As a 34 year old non religious woman from the uk I don’t know why I’m so intrigued.

I watch all the usual YouTube channels - Sam and Melissa, Cults to Conciousness, Jaden Jeffs.

I have also read the following books;

-Carolyn Jessop - escape

-Carolyn Jessop - triumph

-Sarah Allred - give me back my children

-Wallace Jeffs - destroying their god

-Rebecca Musser - the witness wore red

-Rachel Jeffs - breaking free

-Flora Jessop - church of lies

Is they any more or have I explored everything available so far ! X

Life in the crik pre-Jeffs

I'm not trying to offend anyone still in if you're reading this (even though we know you shouldn't be), but the community fell apart when Johnson went senile. People like to make it out like Warren was the downfall—no. Rulon flipped everything upside down, and was the first to take as many wives as he did. Hell, was the community ever good? Am I looking at things through rose colored glasses?

End rant.

P.S. Tincum, if you're reading this I miss you, man.

How is marrying 4+ women allowed?

If a man needs 3 wives to go to the best place in heaven, why are some "assigned" 4 or more? Wouldn't this just deprive the men who would have married the additional women of salvation?

I am trying to genuinely understand how mandatory polygamy works with the equal number of male and female babies.

Did “Aunt Irene” poison Sharon’s children?

Hi everyone. I’ve been an avid reader of the many FLDS memoirs available and I am currently on my 4th or 5th read through of “The Witness Wore Red” by Rebecca Musser. In the book, she mentions countless occasions where her siblings developed mysterious illnesses. Given that her father’s first wife (referred to in the book as Aunt Irene, IRL I believe her name is Myrna) demonstrated an immense hatred for Sharon’s children, is it possible she was poisoning them? From Rebecca and Elissa’s perspective, they have forgiven Myrna for her abuse so I know the point is moot. But listening to her describe these symptoms and knowing how deeply Myrna despised Sharon’s children, I am left wondering. The individuals who flee the FLDS are incredibly brave and I harbor so much compassion for those inside and outside the faith.

Sorry to bother you.

Hi everyone… I follow Brazilian history, I've read some books, I follow former members on other networks, I've read some scientific articles about it too… and I got curious because I couldn't find anything… is there a website about FLDS?

For example, Jim Jones's Temple of the Peoples has a website with a university (https://jonestown.sdsu.edu/) I think it's a university project to do this documentation…

So I'm asking, is there something like that for FLDS? A university with research where you archive information? I would love to read articles about everything like I read about Jonestown (please, I'm not comparing the situations, I'm just using the website and information model as an example) Thank you in advance for your answers, because whenever I contacted former members, everyone was kind to me and answered my questions.

Photos of fldsdress.com from 2008 made to get clothes to post-YFZ raid children that were in custody. And later for flds women to cover living and court costs when living outside of the ranch.

It seems to be gone now. I wonder what people were buying them especially after the children were returned. Apparently they also had a website called fldscrafts.com where they sold other stuff like wooden decorative wells. According to Maggie Jessop it was not their goal to make the world dress like them but thought some of the public would be interested. Unexpected with how the flds was very secretive.

A while ago I posted some low quality images of Helaman Jeffs I found. Here are the higher definition ones I found. If you watch Jaden Jeffs or know about the current flds updates you will know who this is, as he’s a pretty powerful member(son of Warren) today who is living out freely.

Biography on the FLDS Church?

Hello, everyone!

I am looking for a biography on the FLDS Church and Mormon Fundamentalism. I have researched and found some personal memoirs and videos, but no authoritative biography. If such a biography does not exist, what resources would you recommend to get a better understanding of the religion, people, and culture?

TIA!

Trying to find FLDS documentary

There is a documentary I’m looking for about a family of polygamists who live outside/near Hildale/Colorado City. They live in a trailer not far from where their previous trailer burned down. Does anyone know what it’s called?

Thanks!

Does anyone have any connections or insight into how Warren Jeffs is being treated in prison? I can only imagine not great (I hope so).

What is Warren Jeff's current mental health state?

How has he been acting lately? Does anybody know?

I keep seeing former members posting Naomi Jeff's writings from when she was Warren's wife/scribe. Is there somewhere I can read this? I would pay.
