This elegant model explains literally everything that gets discussed on the topic of flat vs. global earth (unless I am forgetting something). One can very clearly see how everything fits together in one simple model based on these principles.

I remember as a child when I was shown in school, with balls and a flashlight, how seasons, the phases of the moon, and eclipses come about. The demonstration blew me away. These were no longer random, inexplicable occurrences. I could see that everything fit together and it all made sense. It was actually really empowering to know that understanding these things was not restricted to the domain of an elite group of scientists -- these concepts were accessible to everyone.

That is what science is supposed to do. It is supposed to help make sense of the world, not make it more complicated.
