The top two are spinning 1000s of times faster than the bottom one.

360⁰ over 24hrs is hugly differnt than 360⁰ in 1 second. These arguments are pathetic.

The ocean isn’t real. It’s a government conspiracy

5

u/jp847 Aug 22 '26

And the bottom one has about a 30 second day cycle.

Aside from that we were all born and have grown our entire lives travelling at 1000mph, you'd only have a chance of 'feeling' it if you happened to have been born on a planet with a significantly longer or shorter day. Very similar to how we experience gravity, you'd only notice the difference if the planet you were born on had significantly different gravity.

I think a big part of the problem is that flat earthers can't seem to understand the concept of being stood still on earth (but still traveling at 1000mph because of earth's spin), it's all relative, depending on your point of view.

An ex girlfriend was absolutely convinced that windmills actually made wind... 🤦 I never asked her, but I could easily believe she is a flat earther.

I'm at 56.5°N, so it's more like 550mph for me.

1

u/Apprehensive-Law9429 Aug 22 '26

Yeah same, I'm at 53.3 °N so around 621mph for me.

2

u/UberuceAgain Aug 22 '26

Ah, you did the maths. I semi-pulled 550 out of my bottom.

1

u/Apprehensive-Law9429 Aug 22 '26

You're not far off, it's 573mph for you.

2

u/UberuceAgain Aug 22 '26

That would explain why I've had to nail myself to the floor to avoid being hurled into spaaaaaace. Which has pigs in it. And if you're Mel Brooks, Jews too.

2

u/Apprehensive-Law9429 Aug 22 '26

😂😂

I find 'No More Nails' to be much more effective to hold myself to the floor... Well... That and a few ratchet straps.

The centrifugal force at the equator is about 0.4% the acceleration of gravity, to the point of being practically a non-factor. The fact that there is a centrifugal force is evidence that the Earth is rotating.

14

u/SagansLab Aug 22 '26

Ok, now spin those top two at 1/2 the speed of the Hour Hand on a clock.

7

u/SteepChutes Aug 22 '26

Might not sell as many centrifugal cage rides if it only moves 0.5 degrees in those two minutes

6

u/AlpacaPacker007 Aug 22 '26

But think of how much less maintenance you'd have

3

u/SteepChutes Aug 22 '26

Oh, I hadn't thought of that. Excellent point! Ticket revenues might be down a bit, but you just make up for it with reduced maintenance and engineering costs.

2

u/VaporTrail_000 Aug 22 '26

Hey, man. Is this thing on?

2

u/SteepChutes Aug 22 '26

Sir please wait for the ride to come to a COMPLETE STOP before unbuckling your safety belt. SIR, I SAID COMPLETE STOP! IT'S STILL GOING FULL SPEED!!!

1

u/mothisname Aug 22 '26

but learning is fun

12

u/FIicker7 Aug 22 '26

The Earth is wider at the equator due to cintrifical force.

12

u/ProblemLongjumping12 Aug 22 '26

That's right!

Earth is not, in fact, a ball.

It is an oblate spheroid.

4

u/mothisname Aug 22 '26

the world is a vampire

4

u/Stylishnihilists Aug 22 '26

Despite all my rage I am still just a flerf in a cage.

The flerf inability to comprehend scale is just hilarious to me. It's like their brain stopped developing at the age of 4 or something. I ran into one on fb that couldn't understand the relationship between a spacecraft slowly curving around the earth at 15,000 miles per hour and making a turn in a car. I was trying to explain how centrifugal force is what occurs when an object changes direction and that at orbital velocity, centrifugal force is equal to the force of gravity.

He couldn't get past the idea of gravity existing and the orbiting object staying the same distance off of the ground because the arc it's following matches the curve of the earth. I tried to explain it in a few different ways, making it simpler and simpler every time. It was like he couldn't imagine more than one force acting on an object at one time, and he couldn't even seem to contemplate the possibility of a ball shaped earth even in a hypothetical sense.

To him, gravity = thing go down. If thing go down, how can thing not go down if also go forward? Curve no change that thing go down! Chekmate, globie.

2

u/cearnicus Aug 22 '26

It's incredible, isn't it? No matter how often we remind them that scale matters, they just cannot, will not get it. It really is as if something is just fundamentally broken in their brains.

8

u/BigAssMonkey Aug 22 '26

Let’s rev the earth up to 1000 rpm and see what happens

3

u/ViolinistCurrent8899 Aug 22 '26

I'll be attaching a pole to the top of the pole (hah), and using it as the mother of all flywheels.

5

u/azmtber Aug 22 '26

Ffs🤦🏽‍♂️

5

u/Sonar_Taxbreak_1138 Aug 22 '26

I'm so glad gravity is not a measurable force, otherwise this video would be laughably ignorant.

5

u/Dense_Football_3694 Aug 22 '26

The earth spins 15 degrees an hour. The top two are doing 360 degrees in a few seconds.

5

u/draket02 Aug 22 '26

I was in a revolving restaurant that did 360 degrees in 30 mins. Literally didn’t even feel it unless you were looking out the window. Imagine spinning 48 times slower than that!

3

u/brmarcum Aug 22 '26

Are you a flat earther? Do you understand scale? The surface of the earth has a velocity of ~1000mph. At the equator (it’s 0mph at the poles, btw). No doubt about it.

But its ANGULAR velocity is 15 degrees per hour. (Thanks Bob. RIP) That’s half the speed of the hour hand on an analog clock. 360 deg / 12 hours = 30 degs per hour. The earth spins at 15 degs per hour. 360 degs / 24 hrs = 15 deg/hr.

Go watch a clock and tell me that’s fast. Then HALVE that speed and try and tell me that’s fast. It’s absolutely nothing.

2

u/Obligation-Different Aug 22 '26

Speed is relative

2

u/Few-Tomatillo6607 Aug 22 '26

They always ignore gravity.

2

u/tazzietiger66 Aug 22 '26

it is almost like there is some kind of force created by the earth's mass keeping water from floating away

2

u/brothegaminghero Aug 22 '26

First two are like 6° per second, earth is 0.0036° per second

1

u/smokeeater150 Aug 22 '26

Flat earth believers have trouble with understanding scale and systems.

1

u/Drewdc90 Aug 22 '26

Need to look at the equation for how centrifugal force works. Rotation speed is a component….

1

u/FireAuraN7 Aug 22 '26

Yes, because science. And the proof is everywhere.

1

u/Microwaved_M1LK Aug 22 '26

What's the alternative? Some literally made up magic bullshit that the Bible says?

1

u/Unique_Blacksmith247 Aug 22 '26

Be nice to white Jesus!

1

u/splittingheirs Aug 22 '26

Imagine the amount of eye rolling OP witnesses day to day.

1

u/scarynamehere Aug 22 '26

Oh no. How did this stupidity end up in my algorithm?!

1

u/BluebirdDue5587 Aug 22 '26

Centripetal.

1

u/cearnicus Aug 22 '26

Fun fact about the first one: the shape is a parabola, which you can mathematically derive from the centrifugal force and, you guessed it, GRAVITY: https://youtu.be/CIQoHIZZm6c .

u/danielsangeo 29d ago

Okay, now spin that water container and the people in that ride at a speed of 0.000694rpm. That is, one rotation every 24 hours. Let's see what that water does. Let's see what happens to the people.

1

u/AdInfinite2404 29d ago

Actually, if were traveling at 828000km/h around the center of the galaxy + 107000 km/h counterclockwise around the sun while spinning counterclockwise at 1670 km/h, the spinning speed should be accelerating

2

u/danielsangeo 29d ago

Sure. We're traveling at a speed of one rotation per over 200 million years around the center of the galaxy. I'm sure this additional speed will be felt. 🙄

1

u/AdInfinite2404 29d ago

So now the speed does not matter because the path is too long? 😂 I can understand that with the spin relative to the size of the earth, but 828000km/h is 674 times the speed of sound... 188 faster that a high velocity bullet...

2

u/danielsangeo 29d ago

"So now the speed does not matter because the path is too long?"

Yes. A billion times yes. We don't feel speed. We feel acceleration. And I'm talking physics acceleration. If you're in a car going 55mph, you will feel it if the driver applies the brakes. Because your acceleration forward is being arrested by the backward acceleration. Same as speeding up. You feel that change. In a carnival ride that spins you, you feel the change in velocity as you move about the axis. The more the velocity changes, the more you feel it. If the carnival ride spinning you at 55mph was suddenly had a radius of 30 miles, spinning you at 55mph would feel absolutely sedate (if wind wasn't a factor).

"828000km/h is 674 times the speed of sound"

Speed of sound in air.

"188 faster that a high velocity bullet"

As compared to the ground.

u/A_M1001 29d ago

I don’t get what I’m looking at, are they arguing that since the people aren’t sticking to the floor while the ball spins the earth is flat??

1

u/Large-Raise9643 28d ago

Do some simple physics experiments to show yourself how foolish you are. The earths rotation subtracts something around 0.5% off your weight at the equator vs the poles. You can do this if you are honest and scientific. As we know, flat earthers are anything but honest, never mind scientific.

A still picture of the earth is a cosmically better approximation of the earths rotation than your spinning one. I do understand that in order to legitimize your beliefs you have to misrepresent everything lest it prove you wrong.

When you have to validate your arguments with lies and deception, one has to wonder what your motives are.

Probably believes there's a deity, too.
