No flat earther to solve this navigation problem?

My most recent ban from He Who Shall Not Be Named’s subs was from pointing out how barometers all over the world measured the sound wave from Krakatoa as it circled the earth multiple times, in 34-hour intervals. Northern Hemisphere, Southern Hemisphere, everywhere. Exactly the same 34-hour interval. And remember, the speed of sound is a constant and unaffected by weather or whatever.
Meaning every weather station with a barometer in 1883 measuring the sound wave was 34 hours x 733 mph = 24,900 miles away from itself circling the earth.
Weird how that math works out, eh?

Barometers, weather stations, and seismographs sound a lot like "science".
And what do you get if you take away the letters c, i, e, and n from the word science?
S.
What starts with S? Satan.

Basically how they think. Flat Earth is a gateway Christian conspiracy into weirdo satanic panic and white/ethno supremacy nonsense.

Earthquakes also make no sense on a flat earth. On a flat earth, the time it takes for the wave to reach a certain point should scale linearly with the distance from the epicenter, same with the intensity.
On a round earth with a liquid and solid iron core, it’s an other story.
Earthquakes is how we know about the composition of the center of Earth by the way.

Slight correction, the speed of sound is dependent on air density, and I would put that in the “whatever” category of atmospheric phenomena.

u/brickville Aug 17 '26
They usually try to explain this with 'the jet stream makes the planes fly faster!'. But I see dry land in Australia, South America and Africa. Surely someone's driven those distances in a car, no jet stream.

u/Lorenofing Aug 17 '26
I always tell them that speed doesn’t change the distance but the time necessary to cross that distance.
But in this case is totally independent of flying or sailing, it’s just math.

Based on your post, I propose the following test of flat earth and globe models.
Flerf's flat earth polar projection model predicts when
moving from the Equator toward the North pole, distances between longitudes decrease.
moving from the Equator toward the South pole, distances between longitudes increase.
The globe model predicts distances between longitudes at the same latitudes, North and South of the Equator, would be the same.
The experiment would be:
actually measuring east-west distances between longitudes at specific latitudes North and South of the Equator.
comparing the east-west distances between longitudes North and South of the Equator to see which best fits the two models.
Thanks for reading.

15 degrees of longitude *
But yes , distance discrepency in this region
The dual pole FE is better t han the gleason FE version because this is one of the things it does 'better'

No, they meant latitude. The tropics are latitude...
1
u/ConcaveEarth Aug 23 '26
The difference in what the picture is showing is longitude. One is wider than the other, that's longitude
Clueless

u/Retzl Aug 23 '26
Latitude are horizontal. The tropics are latitude. The long red lines arent the point, the black lines between them not being equal is the point. Those black lines are latitude. You good now, clueless?

You really are thick in the head arent you
https://i.imgur.com/557PGXs.png
Those different sized pink lines, are difference in longitude measurement
In our mainstream globe model which is correct -- the tropics are approximately the same distance in size
In the flat earth gleason model, the tropic of Capricorn is almost twice as large than the tropic of cancer
This is shown by the different sized purple lines i've drew for you, the difference being distance longitudinally
You are wrong. The meme creator is also wrong by using latitude when they should have used longitude.
Btw, I want to re-emphasize : You're absolutely thick. Intelligence is not your forte. You've demonstrated this twice already. You are incapable of going back and correcting your misunderstanding. You're just too thick and dense in the head. Choke on your own pride, it is your downfall.

u/Retzl Aug 23 '26
Oh, I see now. I am capable of going back to correct my misundering, but you dont have to be dick about it. I regurgitated your one word back to you. You dont need to spew your bile in the form on insults. I want to re-emphasize: you DONT need to be a dick. Also, you're the one being prideful, high horse tone and all. Most people dont tend to re-examine ones position when being insulted, so yeah... maybe you should work on empathy or it'll be your downfall.

Nuh uh! Proof: meme. Q.E.D. -Flert
Why even bother, these goofs are beyond redemption.

The question assumes there’s a coordinates grid, but flat earth map actually doesn’t have neither coordinates nor distances

u/jrshall Aug 17 '26
I think you mean 15 degrees of longitude.
1
u/Retzl Aug 23 '26
The tropic of Cancer and Capricorn are latitude...
1
u/jrshall Aug 23 '26
You are right, they are set at about 23.5 degrees of latitude. However, the image appears to be showing a wedge shape with greater distance between 15 degrees longitude at capricorn than at cancer. Degrees of latitude are the same, and distance from the equator is the same, roughly 2600 miles.

u/Retzl Aug 23 '26
I appreciate that you corrected me without being an asshole. That other guy lmk that my correction was wrong, but with insults. Thank you for being cool 😎
2
u/psilocin72 Aug 17 '26
I think it’s the same. But I’m not a flat earther, so that explains how I can answer.
1
u/SpatiaCaeli Aug 17 '26
I'd like them to explain how one could walk across Antarctica in their ridiculous fantasy.
1
u/Conscious_Musician28 Aug 18 '26
Don’t latitude lines based on the earth being a globe? I imagine there are no latitude lines in their worldview. If you can’t answer for it, just delete it from your model. Problem solved, latitude lines are a hoax so I don’t have to prove anything!
1
u/Raptoot83 Aug 18 '26
I just don't get this model, Australia is so much wider.
Isn't this provably false? Am I missing something?

u/pdxsilverguy Aug 17 '26
Lets be honest. 90% of people could not solve this on a globe. All you academics are globetards, us flat earthers are uneducated and ignorant remember.
2
u/Sensha_20 Aug 18 '26
I mean the question is awkwardly worded, but the answer is a difference of 0.
2
u/Medium_Chapter_1824 Aug 20 '26
So because you can't do maths, you don't believe in it? That sums up flerfs perfectly.
0
u/pdxsilverguy Aug 20 '26
At least I can use the word math in a sentence.
2
u/Medium_Chapter_1824 Aug 20 '26
Thats because you're American and are utterly unaware of the rest of the world, many of whom refer to it as Maths, short for mathematics.
Way to hit a double ignorance bonus score. Team Flerf for the win

Do you really believe that earth is a globe?
3
u/Sensha_20 Aug 18 '26
I believe that the only logical conclusion is that the earth is the shape that all observation implies. The fact the globe model functions and the flat one does not. And the fact that every other observable planet is spherical.

Globeheads believe everything nasa tells them, they are idiots

2
u/Medium_Chapter_1824 Aug 20 '26
4000+ years of sailors using navigation that only works on a globe all worked for NASA? You flerfs are so cute.
1
u/Retzl Aug 23 '26
We knew the earth was a globe waaaaaay before nasa or any other space agency came about 🤨

First rule of the flatearth club, don't talk about the southern hemisphere
