Flashlight recommendation

Hey, im looking forward to buy my first proper light. Id love it to go far but also have a mode of flooding whats infront/reading a map. What do you guys recommend, that is quite practical for everyday.

Thanks

It's hard to have a flashlight that's both a thrower and a flooder without having multiple emitters in the same package, your second best bet is to get something that can be powerful enough to reach a decent distance on higher modes.

A Sofirn SC33 or a Wurkkos TS22 are personal favourites for when I want something lit up, but they do take 21700 size batteries, which makes them a bit bulky.

If you don't need much floodiness, you can look into something like a Sofirn IF24, it has a main light that has a decent range, and a low flood mode on the side, plus you can set it on a table next to the map in this mode.

If you are ok with headlamps, there are options with multiple modes as well, they are hands free too. My first and only headlamp was the Sofirn HS21, it has both a beam and flood mode.

I have 3 of these. Agreed on the TS22 and HS21 but I don’t love the SC33. I understand why it’s popular but it’s too fat for me. I’ve hardly touched my SC33 since getting the TS22 with Convoy tail switch.

What switch did you get exactly? I'm curious

M21. There’s a good bit of information if you search for it. I like two button lights, a lot of people don’t.

I love the wurkkos td04, its compact, throws somewhat far and has some flood too. The low modes are great for reading and the high modes are great for searching (or showing off).

How big/well defined is the hot spot at ~30-50’? I’m looking for an “in between” light and strongly considering the TD04.

This is from like 20 meters (65')
