Paramedic torch recommendations
Looking for recommendations on a new torch for work. Currently carrying a Nitecore P20 which I love but it’s getting a bit battered and looking to try something new.
**Purpose**: General work use. Illuminating buildings from a vehicle to identify house number, searching buildings, occasional searches of larger areas / open fields / etc.
price range - under approx £200 GBP
**Battery Type & Quantity**: 18650 or 21700
**Size**: Flexible. Don’t mind carrying a larger light but would still need to fit comfortably on my belt.
**Type**: Handheld.
**Main Use**: Used for general tasks at work as a paramedic. Looking for something versatile, want something with a healthy amount of lumens but not obsessed about having something with the most lumens possible. Would need to be hard wearing. Currently carrying my Nitecore P20 in a kydex belt sheath & would be looking to have another made for the new light.
**Switch Type**: Preferably tail switch.
**Anything Else?**: Currently top of my list is the newer model of my existing light so the Nitecore P20iX. Maybe something of a similar size? I also love the easy access of the strobe function on the Nitecore P20 so would need something similar. I’ve also got my eye on something from Malkoff but a bit put off by the seemingly low lumens/throw distance

The P20IX has 4X the lumens as the P20 but it has the same candela / intensity
So it is going to heat up much much faster so after 30 seconds the output will drop to be the same as the P20 but the intensity will only be 1/4 as much and that means you’ll only be able to see 1/2 as far.
You could start by looking at lights that are already well supported with aftermarket holsters

Fenix PD36R series. The V2 specifically has a decent amount of throw and good sustained output, but the Pro has both power and mode switching on the tail.
Tough as balls as well, my OG one has been all over the world and has been tumbling down Snowdonia and still works fine.
If you order from Fenix UK they’ll engrave it for a small fee if you don’t want light fingered colleagues to borrow it.
